My Friend's Cousin Said I Had Stink Breath, Now I Feel Lousy Posted: 02-07-06 02:03am
Aloha to all of ehealthforum members. My
gosh. I can't believe there's actually a
place for people with the same problems to
gather together and help one another. I
just turned 16 on saturday and one of my
goals was to not have stink breath
(halitosis) forever. I've been using the
colgate toothpaste for a while, (the one
that says 12 hour fresh breath) and i'm
not sure if it's working or not. I've
been suffering bad breath ever since
elementary school. Gosh, I feel so
embarrassed. I feel like i've wasted my
life. I feel I could've gone on dates
but my breath was holding me back. I
feel like I could've been invited to
parties but no one would invite me cause
they don't want to smell my breath.
Being a teenager with bad breath is
horrible. No gum chewing in class, no
mints, no nothing. I really don't know
what to do. I've done a ton of research
on bad breath. It's weird, but some of
the students at my school, eat whatever
they want, but still don't have bad
breath. And for me, after brushing my
teeth and feeling fresh, I get an odor
just from eating a cookie. What's wrong
with me? Please, if you have any advice,
I would appreciate it.

T'll Try ! Posted: 02-15-06 03:44am
Hi mahalo,
i can understand your feelings so I will
try to put down what I have heard about
the causes of bad breath:
some people say if the liver is not
functioning properly it may cause the
breath to smell, although I do not know
how much truth is in this. But it
wouldn't be a bad idea if you get a liver
test.
Also, I have heard again the bacterium
h.Pylori which lives in the gut and is
responsible for causing stomach ulcers
could be contributing towards this
problem. Again I am not sure how much
truth is in this. Do you suffer from
abdominal pains at all? If you do, then
this bactrium is symptomatic in you and
it may be worth it to have it eliminated
from your system.
One thing that I know can make your
symptoms less pronounced is try to brush
your tongue as many times as you can
during the day. For instance it may not
be a bad idea to carry a tooth brush with
you and brush your tongue whenever you get
the chance i.E. At school, in parties or
anywhere else that you can.
Good luck.

Try These Methods... Posted: 03-25-06 04:57am
Here's a tip,don't use listerine! Use a
mouthwash with a clorhexedrine base rather
than an alcohol one, because alcohol can
dry out your mouth, and make the problem
worse. Floss your teeth everyday. Make
sure the floss gets right down below the
gumline, not just in the space between the
teeth (here's a tip to make this easier:
wind the floss on your second finger, not
the first. Makes it easier). This gets
rid of the bacteria that sits in there.
If you smell the floss after you've
flossed properly (gross I know) you'll
have a pretty good idea of where your bad
breath might be coming from . Brush your
tongue. Drink plenty of water so that
your mouth isn't dry. If that doesn't
change anything, then you might have a
stomach problem rather then an oral health
one.
Eat a sprig of parsley. Parsley cleans up
the breath a treat. Good luck!
