Weak Posted: 02-07-06 04:20am
Sorry going to have a bit of a rant here
:)
after going to my counsellor last night I
realize what a weak person I am, I am
always worrying, stressing or upset. I
cry too much, I let too many people bully
me and walk all over me, ive been
depressed ( getting there again) and now
ive got anxiety, and had an attack
everyday for 4 months. Im 21.. By 30 ill
be having a nervous break down.
I would love to be confident, assertive
and happy. But don't think people can
change their whole personality can they?
There has to be a way out of all this
without spending my life on medication
seeing counsellors, has anyone ever fully
recovered from depression and/or anxiety.
Its getting so bad now.

Hey deex,
you need to remember that you are not
alone in all of this. You see all of us
in these forums experiencing the exact
same thoughts and feelings that you are
experiencing. You can overcome these
thoughts and feelings by first of all
confiding in someone you trust, and your
counsellor is a great start. You need
to tell him or her everything you are
thinking about if you want your counsellor
to help you, and they can. Another
place to start having some exercise in
your life, try going for a nice walk at
least 3 times a week, and incorporate any
kind of daily physical activity. It
will be hard at first, but when you see
how much that helps you, you will enjoy
doing it. Everytime I feel in the dumps
or my anxiety gets the better of me I open
a self help book that talks about my
anxiety. A book that I use is called
"an end to panic" -elke zuercher-white,
ph.D. When I see all the symtoms and
thoughts that I have on paper I get a
reality check that I am ok, or I will be
ok, and that I can overcome these
obsticals. Once you get control of your
anxiety you won't let or feel that anyone
is walking over you, or that you are weak,
because we are all stronger than this
mental illness and we all have it inside
us to rise above it. Also if you are a
person of faith, it never hurts to pray.
You can do this! Remember you are not
alone, and everyday is a new day. :)
