About 2 weeks ago I woke up with the whole right side of my neck was sore so I thought it was just stiff neck but a few days later it ended up being a lump. I had an ultra sound done and they said it ws my limpnoes swollen they put me on an antibiotic and the knot is smaller but is not completely gone they said in a couple of weeks when I go for a check up they will decide surgery what kind of surgery could that be?

Your lymphnodes also swell when you have mononucleousis(aka kissing diesease) they should have ran blood work on you first, surgery is not needed for swollen lymphnodes..

In english...Lymphnodes fuction is basically a trash can, white blood cells bring bacteria/virus to the lymphnodes where they are basically eaten lol!! So when there swollen its ually a sign of illness whether it be virus or bacterial.. ....I would honestly get a second opinion cause I had swollen nodes for over 3 months and it went away with mono

~good luck~

Omg bad topic for me....They took some if my lymph nodes out but it turned out I had mono....Yuck. Three months in bed. Now I have a scar on my neck and no reason for it....Request the mono test first.

Hi there! They might be doing a biopsy, or possibly draining them. Make sure that you talk to your dr and I do not know how many months pregnant you are but make sure he knows that you are so that the dr or anesthesiologist will not give you something that will hurt the fetus. I do kind of agree about getting a second opinion but their are plenty reasons that your lymph nodes could be swelling in your neck, mono and strep are just two of the reasons but I do agree, make sure that they run a mono test on you.

Good luck!

Keepus posted!

True could be something worse I had mono 3 times I have also had strep and laryngitis where my lympnodes were swollen so honestly get them to diagnose what you have first and then make an educated decesion after. When I had mono the third time my spleen was enlarged(hurt like hell) but they told me I would need to have it removed I got a second opinion and they said as long as it doesnt rupture im fine honesyl do what you think is best.
