Treatment and Procedure for Identifying a Malignant (Tumorou Posted: 02-08-06 10:57am
I use to have a mole in my bra strap area
on my back. This morning I scratched my
back and felt this hard thing so I looked
in the mirror and there was a dark red
area on my back where I think a mole use
to be. This mole was raised approx. 1-2
cm. Now if this is the mole it is hard and
sticking straight out. It looks like a
scab just hanging getting ready to fall
off. I have looked and felt my entire bra
strap area and can not find the original
mole anywhere so this must be it. This
mole appeared about 2-3 years ago. It
looks like a bump zit. I. It is dark in
the middle almost black followed by a dark
red ring followed by a light red ring. I
had my full physical on Dec. 2, 2005. All
blood work came back fine. I have made an
appointment with my Dr. on Friday. Just
courious and should I get in to the Dr.
before Friday? Am I over reacting I have
worried about this all morning.
Thanks-

It is OK to show concern for the mole on
your back. Moles are benign skin tumors
but they can turn into malignant
melanoma(s)! A mole (nevus) that is
exposed to frequent mechanical traumas and
suddenly starts to grow fast is at risk
for malignant transformation. Likewise,
if a mole becomes painful or changes its
color, it is considered as a risk for
malignant transformation and can be
removed surgically.
