Starting the Pill- Please Help
Posted: 02-08-06 11:36am

Hi- I just started using ortho-lo and am now 5 days into it- I started in the middle of my cycle instead of the sunday or first day of my period- I was wondering if anyone else knows if this is okay? (i know it will take a week to activate this way).

Also- I already am starting to get side effects like breast tenderness and bloating- is this normal or just because i'm not taking it at the usual start time? And lastly, does anyone know if I will still get my period at the end of the pill pack or will my cycle be all messed up because of this?

Thanks!!!!!!!

I am sorry I am not taking ortho low im starting lutera, but I believe your supposed to start it on the day(s) the doctor told you. You may want to call them just to make sure that what you are doing and expierncing is okay. Good luch

Yes you can start anytime..When you start "anytime" it is called a "quick start" and takes 7 days for you to be protected. When you start on your period it is called a "day 1 start", and you are protected immediately.

Side effects like nausea and breast tenderness are common when taking the pill, especially when you first take it..

I think the general rule is most of the negative side effects, like nausea, go away after about three months, just give your body time to adjust to the pill.
Also, you should get your period at the end of the pill pack, during your placebos. But, since it is your first month on it, your period could come sooner, later, or not at all! But not to worry - it's just your body adjusting to the hormones.

I Can Be Your Ortho Lo Buddy

Hey girl...Since we have the same experience i'm going to share mine

well i'm also taking the ortho lo for almost a month...I also took it on the middle of my cycle...I didn't start it the usual way...As they would say...It was suggested by the doctor to me...Actually I did have breast tenderness like after 3 days of using the pill...If you are asking when will you got your period..In my case, I got it twice..I got it the day that I usually get (29 days after my last period) and then now I got it again (i'm on the placebo week) so I guess it does work...From then on it will regulate your period you will get it every (placebo week) instead of your usual period date...

Hope I have helped
