Stong and stale smelling urine could indicate a possible urinary infection (cystitis) but must be confirmed by a urine analyses. Nitrates, proteins, leucocytes, erythrocytes found in the urine are typical for a urinary infection. If inflammation is confirmed, the infective agent can be detected with a microbiological examination (urinocultura). Urinary infections are more frequently experienced by females than by males.
