Nervous About First Prenatal.... Posted: 02-08-06 14:49pm
Im going for my first prenatal on
valentines day. I'm just kinda nervous to
spread my legs for a guy thats not my
boyfriend. I mean, I know hes a good guy
and lots of people I know have him as a
doctor and been pregnant. But its just
very awkward especially when I am kinda
self concious :p

If you're that uncomfortable you can ask
that a nurse be in the room as well. And
just remember, it's his job, he looks at
vaginas all day and it's all very
professional. Also, you can ask that he
tells you everything he's doing as he goes
along. I just stare at the poster on the
ceiling and wait for it to be over. It's
pretty quick and it's really not that bad.

If it's just you and him than the nurse
practicioner must be in the room...All
it's gonna be is a simple pap...Which
sucks..But it's like pulling teeth...And
some blood work!! I was freaked out about
both!! But I promise when he puts the
doppler on your belly and you hear your
little one's heartbeat...All of the
anxiety will vanish instantly!!!!!
You just have to realize that everything
he's doing is for you baby!! He has no
intentions of purposfully hurting you!!
Lol...I am was very self conscious as
well..But girl...After your 2nd vaginal
check...You'll get over it!! Lol...It'll
be all good!!!!
Good luck!!!

Out here the nurse has to be in the room
while they exam you... Its a little
uncomfortable at first. But trust me your
doctor has seen way more then just you..
And far worse things that it's no big deal
to them. Lol when I found out I had the
hpv virus I was scared to have exams and
my doctor who is a woman but she is hella
cool was like sweety.. I've seen way more
gross things that this is nothing. So
it's just something u have to let go.
Trust me the doctor isnt thinking about
anything but what they are supposed to be.

I will not go to a male doctor...I see a
female and I don't mind. However my mom
had me in to see her the month I started
my monthly. I remember crying and
crying and crying the week before. (and
it wasn't so bad) I never got uesed to it.
But after last time when I lost my
baby......And everyone and their brother
saw my goodies it doesnt' bother me in the
least any more.
You just have to understand that it's all
for your health and your babies health as
well.
