Bleeding Isn't Stopping
Posted: 02-08-06 21:58pm

I started taking birth control pills (apri, which I think is a generic brand of desogen) ten days ago on the first day of my period. Since then, my period has not stopped (it's usually 5-6 days). Should I be concerned? The bleeding has been fairly light for the past five days or so, but it seems too heavy and too frequent to be spotting. I don't know how much breakthrough bleeding is normal and if this is just continuous breakthough bleeding. I'm curious if this is at least somewhat common when starting pills, and it will go away, or if it is something that I should go see my doctor about. Thank you!

Yes it is common for you to have some strange bleeding for the first few weeks of pill usage. You should notice your bleeding will stop fairly soon, hopefully during the 2nd week of pill use :)
