You can feel movement as early as 3 months (12-15 weeks). It would probably feel like fluttering. Imagine yourself blowing bubbles in a glass of milk, and holding your hand over the bubbles as they pop. That's another way to describe the sensation.
Some women don't feel movement until at least 5 or 6 months. If the placenta is anterior or posterior, that could inhibit feeling movement.

Baby Movement
I started feeling my little one at 20 weeks and even then it was only maybe once a day. I'm 23 weeks now and because I have an anerior placenta, I still only feel small bumps and not very often. I looked up anterior placenta on the internet and it says I might never feel what is considered 'hard kicks'. I see my doctor next week so maybe she'll give me more details.

with my last pregnancy (baby #3) I had an anterior placenta myself, and couldn't feel hard kicks either. I had to rest my hands on my belly and feel her that way. At first, I started noticing that I couldn't feel her so they did nst's (non-stress tests) to make sure that she was ok. Then we did an nst at the hospital and did an ultrasound that showed the placement of the placenta being too high aka anterior. We continued doing nst's until my 38th week just to be sure she was ok since I couldn't feel movements without holding my hands to my belly.

I am 24 weeks and I think I started feeling little light movements at about 16 weeks and then they got harder and I could actually feel the baby moving at around 17 to 18 weeks.

Movements
Queenbee:
i sure hope I don't have to go through all those stress tests! More time off work! :)
so, you couldn't feel it at all the entire pregnancy? I can feel movement, just nothing I would consider 'hard'. Just pokes and I can feel it squirming around in there. I'll be interested to hear more about this on tuesday. That's my next appt.
A lot of people also say that 'they knew' it was the baby and not just gas, well, I didn't know--and maybe because of my situation. It took feeling it many times to begin 'assuming' it was the baby and eventually those feelings got more consistant and more definite.

it was cool at 1st having the nst's because I got to see u/s's pretty much weekly. It was tough because I had to find a sitter for my older 2 daughters. Of course it was worth it to be sure all was well.
Anyway, I really couldn't feel kicking unless it was my hand, through my belly or a good kick to an organ or my spine. It was definitely different than my other 2 pregnancies.

I think I felt flutters around 12 weeks. I got my first kicks at 15.5 weeks, but had to wait until 18 weeks for more.
