Why is it that you don't die from having
your period? I know you can die from
loosing blood anywhere else, by why don't
you when you have your period? If you cut
your arm and let it bleed that much for
how ever long your period is, you'd die,
but when you have your period you don't.
How is this possible?

Duh....High school health class...Cause
you are not losing blood directly from an
artery, its blood your body builds up,
stores, and intentionally disregards.
Two totally diff things.

Research has shown that the average period
blood loss is 40-60 mls (8-12
teaspoonfuls). Some women may complain of
excess loss when they are only losing less
than 10mls.
Some women losing up to 400 mls do not
realize that they have a problem (500mls
is about a pint, the amount given when
someone donates blood), which for a
menstrual cycle, is very heavy. A
physician should be contacted if this is
the case.
