Dull Pain Under Rib Cage On Left And Right. Yellow Stools. Posted: 02-11-06 16:50pm
I am trying to figure out if I may have a
disorder with my gall bladder. I am going
to the doctor soon. The symptoms started
a couple of years ago and i've had many
tests to include a ct scan, endoscopy, and
tests for the liver. They could never in
the past figure anything out and told me
it was probably pleurisy or a reaction to
the humidity in the summer. Most recently
this pressure I feel in my ribs has gotten
worse. The pain goes away if I drink
alcohol and every morning about the same
time I have yellow stools which started
about a month ago. I've also had night
sweats to where I will wake up drenched in
sweat. This whole thing scares me to
death. The pain and pressure I have in
the area below my ribs is a dull pain, not
anything that keeps me from working.
Please reply if you have had any of these
same symptoms. Thanks..

Hi There. Posted: 04-03-06 19:37pm
I too, had dull pain under my ribs and my
doctor diagnosed it as ibs. Research it
online to see if it matches your symptoms
if all the other tests come back normal.

Left Side Pain Posted: 04-06-06 09:36am
I too have pain on my left side under my
ribcage. I just had my gallbladder out a
few weeks ago (also had right-side pain
and failed hida scan) and the left side
pain is still here. It also radiates to
my back. I have had catscans, ultrasound,
endoscopy, barium xray and they cant find
anything. Some days it is better than
others, soo annoying and worriesome. Dont
know what to do next, colonoscopy
maybe...Need to call Dr.

Hey Van---if You Have Pain Under Ribs You May Have Ibs Posted: 04-06-06 13:59pm
Hi there. I was having nagging
pain/pressure under my left rib. Had the
same tests as you (everything came back
normal) research ibs on the internet and
see if it may connect. Ibs doesn't
necessarily define bowels as in ibs but
the entire digestive system (including the
colon/people with ibs have what is called
a "sensitive" colon that spasms--which
could explain the pressure under the rib
as well as the pressure one feels after
one eats. Unless your 40 years of age or
older/have a family history of
colon/colorectal cancer--they usually
don't screen anyone for a
colonoscopy--under 40 years unless the
first two apply (over 40)/family history
of colon cancer.
I was diagnosed with ibs after having many
tests done (all were normal too). I don't
have so called "bowel problems" associated
with ibs--but I do have pain in my abdomen
and pressure under the ribcage (primarily
under the left rib cage)--my main
symptoms--and sometimes the pain is more
noticable after I eat.

I just read your posts on ibs and eastern
medicine. What are you currently doing
for your ibs? Thanks.
