Keppra Side Effects Posted: 03-06-06 13:50pm
I have been taking keppra for a while now.
Low dose did not seem to bother me too
bad. I have been on a roller coaster
with seizure meds so I am used to side
effects. At about 3000 mg a day I am
ready to throw my head through a window.
Major head aches. I can not control my
rage. I never had rage. I cry all the
time. It appears some one has moved all
my furniture just a bit. Everything
looks different. One good thing... It
has made me smarter. I am also on
topamax which took away many of my words.
I now have plenty to say to just about
every one in my way. Oh ... Another
thing... Bad ringing in my head. That
actually started at about 1500mg but now
it is so bad it is making me insane. One
cure for the ringing... Keep the tv on at
all times. Helps distract you. Today
my family called my neurologist for me.
I just can't do this drug anymore. Don't
feel bad if you can't either.

I am so sorry things got so bad at this
dose! Maybe you can ask your neuro if you
can go back to a lower dose to see if you
tolerate that better?
I know with my son it is that way with
zonegran. He does best at one dose, when
we went higher things got worse, but
improved when neuro lowered.
It sounds really miserable for you. I
hope that an adjustment makes things much
better quickly!

I am sorry that topamax was not a good
medicine for you. Hoping keppra is much
better. My son is doing ok on it. I know
of others who also find it offered great
control. Each person reacts so
individually to these meds!!
