Is Your Kitchen a Safe Home Base?
Posted: 02-12-06 11:40am

I am new to this forum, but have been reading through the posts and am very impressed with the feedback people are providing. I also feel this is a forum where people feel comfortable to post their questions, given the large number of great questions here.

I just thought i'd start this thread as I think it relates to many of the questions.

I run a small nutritional consulting business in toronto on. And its not at all what you're thinking right now. My approach is to apply nutrition. Not the standard sit in a nutritionists office and then fumble around in the grocery store and kitchen trying to make your taste buds love the suggested menu.

Rather, I aid clients in creating a safe home base. Thats right, I go into their kitchen and remove all the unwanted, undesirable physique infecting foods. We create work stations in their kitchen so they can make their meals efficiently and not spend hours upon hours slaving over the stove. Then we go to the grocery store and scour the aisles for the best foods available. This gives the client a chance to ask any food related questions they may have. From here we go back to their kitchen and prepare meals. I also provide supplements (fish pills, calcium, protien, greens+, etc. As needed-specific to the client).

The feedback I receive still ceases to amaze me:
"i never realized how much I didn't taste my food before. Now that I am using different oils, vinegars, spices etc, I can really taste the greens, veggies and meats in my meals." natasha-27yrs.

I have discovered that if you don't have the food in your home, you can't eat it. And the food in your home (good or bad) will eventually be eaten. After all that is why you buy food. So the bottom line is fill your kitchen with only good for you foods and the transition to a healthier lifestyle will become less treacherous.

The reason for my post is to encourage you to expose your kitchens shelves. This is difficult to do. It is a territorial thing. But please, open your cupoard doors, look down the shelf doors of your fridge and find a trash bag big enough. It will make all the difference in the world.

If you want any help and are in the toronto area send me an email: healthykitchens@hotmail.Com

if you don't live in the toronto area I am putting together a website and manual to guide you along your healthy kitchens makeover. Should be up and running later march 2006.

I hope this post has provided you with a unique perspective on foods.

You don't need to be the nutritionist to get the right foods. Let the expert do the science, you just get the job done.

Good luck and let me know what you think.

Amanda
