Lower Back Pain Questions Please Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted: 02-12-06 18:38pm

Hi,
around christmas my mother developed a horrible cold, she still has she gets one every year. Further, she fell down 3 stairs. Her back hurt a little then felt better. About 1 week later, she carried a bag full of full cans. Right after that her back started killing and still does. It seems the pain is located around the sides of her lower back. She finally agreed to see a doc but is super scared they will say it is cancer causing the back pain. I dont feel any lumps or anything in the area. It just hurts. She is 55 and smokes. Ice seems to provide small relief so does a rubber waist support. So........
What are the odds this is cancer considering she had reasons to get sore?
Does cancer normally cause back pain?
I am so scared I really couldnt take losing my ma now. Please give me feedback or relate an incident you had that was similar and what it was. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tama

it isn't the time to panic, from your post it seems your mother has either pulled some muscles or ruptured a disc. Unless there is family history to suggest otherwise, I would bet on a back injury. The back is easier to injure that you think. Keep us posted, and keep your head up. Take care and god bless.
