epithelioma, and at the end carcinoma intraepidermale Posted: 12-29-03 12:33pm
Several months ago my father noticed a red
dot on the left side of his face. In the
past several months it started spreading.
He saw a doctor, who told him that 'it'
had to be removed, so it was (8 stitches).
After 9 days the stitches were removed
and we noticed that the cut hadn't healed
properly because it was open. So he went
to the hospital again and his doctor put
the stitches again. Before the first
stitches were removed the doctor said that
that spot had become inflamed and he
prescribed medication for my father. Now
the second stitches are removed and
everything seems to be fine, no
inflammation.
The thing that got us worried is the test
result that we got from pathology. So I
was wondering if anyone could tell me
something about it. It said: epithelioma,
and at the end carcinoma intraepidermale.
I talked to another doctor and before I
was finished describing my father's
condition, he said cancer.
Any suggestions and advice are
appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you very much for your reply. I
appreciate it.
When I picked up the test results, I
immediately went to see my father's doctor
(and by the way he is not a cancer
specialist). He told me that my father is
ok now but it wouldn't have been good if
the spot hadn't been removed. That's the
only thing he kept saying. But somehow
that's not a sufficient answer for me. My
dad talked to him the following day too
and the doctor told him the same thing.
I saw another doctor and he told me that
my dad should use a cream (which he did
last summer) and that he should use a hat
as well (which my father again did) and
stay out of sun. This doctor thinks that
the cancer won't reoccur, since it has
been completely removed. It said so in
the test results. This doctor added one
more thing; he doesn't seem pleased with
the fact that my father's doctor operated
him while that spot was inflamed. The
test results described the removed tissue
as inflammed with pus. According to him,
my father's doctor should have waited for
a while with the operation.
All this didn't calm me down. I am really
worried, and so is my father, of course.
My father keeps telling me that he feels
something, like itching, on his entire
face. He is afraid that he might be
getting those red spots all over his face.
I am also very worried because my
great-grandfather (my father's
grandfather) died of lung cancer and my
grandfather (my father's father) of
stomach cancer. My grandmother (my
father's mother) has red spots on her face
and they were removed and some of them
reappeared but the test results showed no
sign of cancer stating that they are spots
that old people get/have.
