That's quite extreme, not to be mean or anything. Have them also check your thyroid. Good luck!

Let me know what they tell you... And ask about the thyroid thing. I found out that I have an underactive thyroid and I put on some weight very fast!

Thyroid, diabetes, etc. Have them check you for it all as soon as they can.
40 pounds in one month is practically impossible. It wouldn't be because of twins, they wouldn't cause you to gain that much weight at only 8 weeks. And 40 pounds of water weight in a month is not likely, either.
F-o-r-t-y? Really 40? Lol that's amazing.
It sounds like there's got to be an underlying health issue. Best of luck to you.

Lsipes...
I'm with you on this one....

I would def. Have them check out your thyroid!!! It could be a life threatening issue if not taken care of...

This is almost as wild as someone else said that they were 29 weeks preggy and their baby is already 6lbs!! Come on!! Do I look stupid!!! Lol

let us know how everything goes!!

If a girl was to have a 10 lb or larger baby--it could definately weigh 6 lbs at 29 weeks. This lady had a 13 lb baby just like last month. I wonder how much her baby weighed at 29 weeks??

My husband was over 10 lbs--

My mom was a 12 lb baby and i'm sure she wasn't 6lbs at 29 weeks...

We I went in for my 27/28 weeks ultrasound my baby weighed in at 3.5 lbs. And my Dr. Noted that this will be a large baby...Probablt in the double digits....Being that this does run in my family..It's not a shock...In the last weeks of pregnancy..The baby gaines 1/2 lb to a lb per week...If she is already 6lbs.....Like I said..She'll have a 20 lb. Baby.....

If my hubby was 10lbs and 26inches long does that mean that I will have a large baby too? I really don't want a large baby. I was only 6 lbs and my sis after me was about 5 lbs full term. Now my hubby was carried for 49 weeks.....I am sure that helped his size...None of his bro or sis's were that big around the 7/8lbs range.

I weigh 125 now I have gained only about 4lbs give or take a lb @ 14wks along

Considering his lateness---probably this wont work--but...You take your weight, add his weight, divide by 2 = approx weight of baby.

I was born early and pretty small--so it would work for me properly either. So my kids around 7 lbs so I would probaby come out if I did my husband and my kids--i would get almost 9 lb baby. If carried all the way to term.

I do agree, 40 lbs., in a month is quite a bit, definitely, get some blood work done, please do not take me wrong, I am not trying to be mean or anything and I am not trying to scare you but that can be dangerous, not only with your pregnancy but also with you, I know, I lost 40lbs., in two months but I was sick, please take care. Yes, it is possible to gain 6lbs . Fast. Not always healthy, I had a friend that never looked pregnant until her 7th month and then she and the fetus got big. If I were you amd I gaained 40lbs. In one month, I would be on the phone with the Dr. And possibly getting a second opinion.
Good luck!

are you sure the scale was accurate? If it is, and you really did gain 40 lbs in one month, that's really extreme. As a pp mentioned, it could be a thyroid problem. I'm wondering if there's some sort of edema or hypertension? You can gain a healthy 35 lbs throughout a pregnancy. For some women, they gain a lot more or actually lose weight. I had a friend who gained 75 lbs with each pregnancy, most of which melted off her within months of delivery.

No matter what, defininetly get checked and make sure you used an accurate scale.
