Ruined Two Tests!! Urgh!!
Posted: 02-14-06 18:50pm

I am so mad!! I bought a clear blue test today (i have already taken two with very faint positives) and decided I would try actually peeing on the stick instead of dipping. Well...I ended up getting a drop of pee right on the result window. The entire window turned blue and then when urine finally made it to the next window (where it tells you if test worked) the line barely showed up. I was sooo frustrated!!!

So....I go buy another test. Lol! This time I got a brand called ovu fem (they were sold out of clear blue). I decided I would get a sterile pee cup from the pharmacy and try again while dipping this time. Well...I guess I got too much urine in the test because the urine came rushing to the result window and again turned the entire test window pink. When urine reached the next window...Line clearly showed up after a minute or so to say that test worked. Urgh!!

I pulled both tests apart (i just had to see how the color was dispersed). The clear blue had a blue line at the start of the test strip and then blue spread all the way up to the result window and just passed it. The other test was just pink all over.

What I wonder is...Would any blue or pink have shown up in the result window if it hadn't picked up any pregnancy hormone? I called the info number on the clear blue package. She said that it was possible that the dye had spread from the positive result line...But it could have been from the second window. Thing is...The urine hadn't reached there yet.

I don't know!! I just am obsessing over the idea of being preggo because of all my symptoms and two previous not so clear test results (on hpt). I'm so anxious to get confirmation! My fiance even told me to stop worrying...'cause he knows I am. My bb's have grown and become "puffy". Veins are visible on bb's when they weren't before. I had posted most of this before...But my af showed up 4 days late and was light spotting for 1 day...Bleeding for 1...And 2 more days of barely there spotting. I had cramps through out and even a few days before. I've been unusually fatigued. I used to be up all night...Now I have a hard time staying up later than 10....And I still end up sleeping until 10 or 11 the next morn. But for the most part even when I try to sleep...I toss and turn and can never get comfy! I could keep going...Lol! But I fear this post has turned into a novel. Yikes!!

Anyway...Thanks for listening and letting me get out my frustration. I'm sure i'm preggo...But I just wont allow myself to get my hopes fully up until I get true confirmation. I'm going to the doctors next monday (20th) and will find out for sure then. I just can't wait to celebrate!!!! :)

If you've already taken two that came out positive (faint or not), they're positive!!!
All a faint line means is that hcg levels are low. But they're there... Meaning you're pregnant!!!
I swear by first response. Seriously. If you're doubting, go buy a cheapo first response. But honestly, if you got a faint positive line in your first two tests, that's definite indicator that you are preg. =)

Someone suggested first reposnse, thats what I was gonna say. I took a two pack of first response test and both were bright positives that showed up as soon as the urine ran across the stick. It didn't matter the time of day either cause I took it in the afternoon around 6

Lol seems like ur buckling under the pressure--the other ones you did fine and now your just so excited and nervous you keep buggering em up lol j/k
but I agree--faint positives still mean pregnant!!! Maybe take a deep breath and then test again lol use the kind u used with the faint positives, b/c u seemed to be able to do them properly lol
good luck=)

Any kind of positive is a positive. It's darn hard to get a false positive. Congratulations and welcome to the club....

Lol!! I guess one of the number one reasons that I wasn't letting myself get overly excited is that I have endometriosis. This is when the presence of endometrial tissue (tissue that normally lines the uterus) is in abnormal locations such as the ovaries, fallopian tubes and abdominal cavity. It makes conceiving much more difficult for some and impossible for others. So I had really started to believe that I might not be able to have kids. My dh and I have been using the pull out method for 7 years!! So it's hard to believe that we were so effective at it for that long. I had begun to wonder if dh was infertile because he had chicken pox at the age of 16...Or if it were me. We only actually started ttc in december....So it seems like a such a long shot that i'd be preggo so soon...But there you have it...I'm sure I am. :)
thanks for all the support and reassurance. I still can't believe that I messed up both tests! My brain and my co-ordination seems off these days. I'm usually pretty sharp and now I can't seem to even play monopoly with out getting confused. Hehehe!

hi again oh_mommy! I pulled out my ttc diary to give you more detail on that:
jan 22nd- af was due...Started having very mild cramps.
Jan 24th-cramps more severe...Thought af was here for sure but never showed up. Even after intercourse...Which usually starts af early if i'm about to begin.
Jan 25th- very mild light pink spotting (only when wiping). Strong cramps.
Jan 26th-woke up with bleeding. (sorry tmi...) blood very thin...Seemed almost diluted. Very bright red almost neon. Needed tampon on this day only.
Jan 27th-started day with heavy bleeding and by bedtime it had tapered off to nothing. Not even when wiping.
Jan 28th- no sign of bleeding or spotting when I woke up. Then I started up again for a couple hours and then by bedtime only very tiny amount of light brown/pink blood when wiping.
Jan 29th-woke up w/ no bleeding. Spotting during the afternoon (very mild...Only when wiping). Heavier spotting by evening. By bedtime...Hardly any trace of color when wiping.
Jan 30th-bleeding and spotting had stopped completely.

There were .M.A.N.Y other symptoms...But it would take a while to write them all...And I don't want to subject y'all to another one of my novels. Lol!This is just a break down of my spotting and bleeding as you had asked about. I hope this helps. :)

thanks again everyone for all the congrats!! I have already started taking folic acid and am waiting for doctors visit to have him tell me what other prenatal vitamins I should be taking. I've been taking all the needed precautions...So I just can't wait to see the doc. I will be 8 weeks by then...And i'm waiting until after that appointment to share the news with my family. For now...At least I have you wonderful ladies and my dh to obsess with over this. When i'm not here...I can usually be found on my couch reading books all about pregnancy! Lol! I'm still making sure that I keep active daily...But it just seems to be harder to get myself motivated. Or...To pull myself away from my computer or my books. Lol!

Thanks again! I'll let everyone know what happened at the doc's when I go monday!

I have this same thing when it gets "close to af time" but we've been together 3-4 times & nothing...I will test friday to see. Hope I get that double line :)
plus I agree with them a positive is a positive. Congrats.
