Is Something Wrong With Me Or Not? Please Read!

Ok, this is an odd question, but I am not an expert on a womans vagina and the inside feels bumpy and all. I don't have an odor and I don't have any normal yeast infection problems. Is this the normal way it's supposed to feel or should I be worried? I'm 16 and i'm dumb so please help!

you're not dumb. I didn't know anything about my body when I was 16 let alone what was normal.

As to the bumps, has your vagina always felt as bumpy? Have you had unprotected sex with anyone who may have had sex with someone who had hpv?

Depending on how much you bathe and wash your vaginal area, you may not have a smell because you wash so much and don't sweat as often. Your discharge should have a light odor but not be overpowering or noticeable.

Are you having sex? If so, I would encourage you to start having annual exams.

They aren't scary and they can help you maintain your health and catch problems early. You'll have to undress but they give you a robe to wear. A nurse or your mom can sit in the room the entire time with you. You lay back and put your feet into stirrups (which is kind of embarrassing to me but it's necessary). The doctor is going to insert a speculum which will probably be cold. This doesn't hurt, it just spreads your labia and vagina open so that they can continue the rest of the exam. Next, they will insert a long, thin q-tip looking instrument. This gently scrapes some cells from your cervix which they will smear on a slide (a pap smear) to check for any changes that could lead to cancer. Next, they will insert a finger or two and press down on your abdomen to check the size and firmness of your uterus (this also checks for any noticeable lumps). There is some pressure involved in this but it isn't bad or painful.

After that, they will check your breasts to see if there are any lumps. This doesn't hurt either. And at the end you can ask them questions (like are the bumps normal) and they can prescribe reliable birth control.

If you've had unprotected sex before, I would also suggest you ask them to give tests for all of the sti/std's. I did this at my second annual exam because I started having sex at 17.
Peace,
jenn

I agree with everything jenn said, but also have a question.

This bumpiness that you're asking about... Is it internal or external? Are you talking about the inside of your vagina or the opening to it?
Because the inside of the vagina does have a sort of "bumpy" texture to it. That's completely normal.
I would suggest having an annual done anyway. My mother made me start getting paps annually once I started menses. It mattered not that I wasn't sexually active. Of course, i've seriously slacked off on them in my adult years (i'm waiting to not be bleeding long enough to schedule an exam!!!), but it really is effective in catching any possibly life-threatening problems early. Good luck to you!
