In my family, the men have always passed
down their names to the point where
there's already a benjamin the fifth.
Is it common that women pass down their
names to? When I get married, I will lose
my last name and have no part of me (title
wise) to pass down. What's your opinion
on women passing down their name to their
daughter?

Do you mean using your maiden name as a
middle name for your child? I have heard
of this quite alot. Suppose it does
depend on what the name is tho, and what
you are going to pair it up with!

I think she means passing the first name
down, right? It's not commonly done, but
I don't see anything wrong with it. My
husband's grandma did something similar,
her real name was magdalen and she named
her daughter margaret, but they both went
by maggie. So not exactly the same but
similar. If you want to, go for it!

oh right, get you now! Just she was
talking about her maiden name so thats
what I thought she meant! Either way I
dont think theres anything wrong with
repeating a name as long as you like it!
