I have been diagnosed with tmj disorder on
the right side of my jaw- luckily no pain,
just popping- primarily stress caused. I
am reluctant to get a bite splint because
I am absolutely terrified (like grown
woman, psychological, unsurmountable fear)
of an invasive, holding of my head and
restrictive diagnostic session. The
thought literally brings me to tears. I
cannot experience a doctor restricting the
movement of my mouth and forcing the pop
(i naturally "dodge" it unconsciously).
That said, I have heard of a relatively
new technology called k7evaluation system
which is supposed to be non-invasive.
Has anyone had any experience with it?
Any other non-invasive experiences? I'm
interested in a diagnostic that would
determine the position of my jaw and what
position it needs to be in without tight
or restrictive means.
Thanks very much for any insight, shoteka

Hi shoteka,
i'm very much in the same boat as you are.
I'm not really experiencing any pain but
there are popping and I know I definitely
have tmj after I removed my wisdom teeth.
I was wondering if you want to exchange
email to see where each others at. Right
now i'm afraid to seek treatment because
i'm scared that it might get worse.
However I do want to get better if the
doctor is sure of himself. I would also
like to know if anyone wore a splint and
your tmj went away. Thanks

I am thinking about traveling to chicago
to see a specialist that uses these k7
things.
I was treated by my regular dentist. He
gave me a splint that a specialist told me
was just for people that grind their teeth
(which I do) at night, but not for tmj and
that it could possibly make my tmj worse.
I think, "ihavetmj", that you have to see
a specialist who works specifically with
these conditions. I have been avoiding
it because, like I said, i'm not in pain
which is a double edged sword, ya know?
It's good not to be in pain, but it allows
me to ignore my problem... Anyway,
private message me or whatever (i'm new to
these posting sites) and we can talk more
if you want
