Tongue Problem
Posted: 02-23-06 17:12pm

Hi, I got this problem on dec. 19th. 2005. I had wisdom tooth trouble and a pain from there down to my adams apple, and something that seemed to be sticking into my tongue was making me gag/retch. I had pain in the wisdom tooth (lower right side) and so that was removed. But the retching problem was still there. Now nine weeks later, having mostly gotten used to the problem, it's started getting worse, the pain/discomfort still goes down to the adams apple, but the retching is going on for hours at a time! I have seen both dentists (5) and doctors (4) who all tell me that they don't know what's going on and that I should see my dentist/doctor. That is, one profession doesn't understand it and so sends me to the other. I have been referred to an oral maxillofacial consultant, but I still have another seven weeks to wait for that, and I am sometimes retching/throwing up for half an hour at a time. But doctors now just seem to be fed up with me and flatly refuse to bring the importance of my referral up a stage. I don't think I can go on like this for much longer without some kind of help! So I hope someone out there can, please? Symptoms are pain still in tooth socket, 7 weeks after extraction, and still cannot drink hot/cold liquids but only lukewarm. Lower teeth seem to be leaning inwards and digging in under tongue, (obviously they have been like this for some time, but tongue seems to have become very sensitive or something). Retching is caused by strange feeling at right rear side of tongue, for an idea of what this is like, if you push your finger into your tongue right at the back on the right side, and then push harder and then harder again, I know that sounds ridiculous but try holding it there for nine weeks, and you'll begin to understand just how unbearable this has become. Any ideas on what could be causing this :?: would be greatly appreciated, thanks, tongue tied.
