Bleeding Two Months after Delivery....Serious need to Visit
Posted: 02-25-06 00:11am

I had my baby 3 months ago, the bleeding eventually stopped after 2 and a bit months. Now, the bleeding has started again, not enough to say it is a period, but just enough to use a pantyliner. During a day there will be bleeding sometimes and sometimes not. The last tw or three days I have been getting light "pains"..... almost like period pains..... what could it be?

It is not normal to bleed for a period longer than two months after delivery without any examination and treatment by your obstetrician! Bloody discharge after delivery shouldn’t persist for more than 5 days. The most common reason for spotting after delivery is to expel a remaining piece of placenta; the "afterbirth”. Bleeding ca be complicated by a secondary infection (endometritis). I recommend you visit your obstetrician immediately!
