Severe Stomach Pain Followed by Nausea but no Vomiting....He Posted: 02-25-06 13:40pm
I am taking Protonix 40 mg one time per
day for stomach pain. I was in the
hospital 2 years ago and got scoped and
they found several unlcers. I also had my
gallbladder removed during my stay. I took
medicine for a year and was sysmptom free
and stopped. (it was a pill that was 1/2
gray and 1/2 pink) cant remeber the name.
A few months agao the pain in my stomach
directly in the center under my rib cage
became unbearrable, my family Dr. put me
ion Protonix and I am having these painful
attakes 4-6 times per week, day & night, I
am also taking 4-7 Tums to help it out. I
feel like I am going to vomit but never
have, when these attacks happen aI also
end up having a diarrhea episode. Why is
it so painful, it has never felt like this
in the past. Do I need to change
medications or get scoped again to see if
things have worsened?
It would be helpful to take another
endoscopic gastroscopia, particularly to
examine the stomach and duodenum. In the
case of severe stomach pain, abdominal
ultrasounds are also recommended. It is
possible that the peptic ulcers in your
medical history have been reactivated
again. Gall stones in the choledocal duct
should be also excluded as a possible
reason for such painful attacks, so you
can request that your doctor run all of
these examinations.
