Hi everyone! I'm 16 and 26 weeks pregnant with a little girl. My mom took it pretty well, and i'm still coping. I already decided to name her olivia charlotte. Any comments?

It was great to hear from all of you. My mom was like, "olivia charlotte? Where did you get that?" she was surprised it was so tame and elegant. I think she thought I was going to name her something that she couldn't ever be taken seriously as, like karmen elektra or something. I've always loved traditional names, although all my choices were from tv shows, which my friends found funny. Olivia is from "law & order: svu" and charlotte is from "sex and the city". The other names I tossed around were "abigail susan" or "susan abigail", both names coming from "er", and "alexandra catherine", alexandra being from "law & order: svu" and catherine being from "csi: crime scene investigation". My bff was born when her mother was my age, and the poor girl's name is tulip delilah. She hates it, and her mother realizes the mistake she made, and now she's in the process of legally changing it to amanda christine, which her mother suggested.
How have your schools reacted to your pregnancies? Mine is actually being great about it, and they're going to let me bring olivia to classes and stuff with me, and our school has a child development class which runs a fully-operational day care center, so for $75 a month I will also be able to drop her off there at the beginning of the day if I have, like a test or something.

I've got them, but the computer is about as technological as I get. I don't have any way to upload them onto the computer, which sucks. I'm always afraid something will happen to them and I won't have any record of them. I don't have a digital camera, either, or else i'd just take pictures of them and upload. I was going to buy one, but then I found out I was pregnant and I blew $300 on frilly little pink outfits. So, i'm camera-less, too.
I'm a little worried, though, because i'm 27 weeks today, and liv's not moving that much. I know I really don't start kick counting til 28 weeks, but should I be worried? I called my .O.B, but she wasn't there, and the person who answered the phone was singularly unhelpful. Am I just paranoid, or are my concerns valid?

Good news, everyone! My .O.B called back, and said she checked the list of medications i’m currently on. One of them is a muscle relaxant for a shoulder injury that I got when I was 14. I push a 70-lb marimba (like a xylophone) every day after school for marching band, and in my freshman year I tore one of the muscles in my shoulder. It didn’t heal right, so the muscle has been incredibly tight ever since. Well, aforementioned muscle relaxant has been causing olivia to be extremely relaxed, which explains why she really hasn’t moved much. I’m not going to take the med again til the end of my pregnancy, which may mean unhappiness for my shoulder, but I won’t have any more “why isn’t she moving?” moments. I also tried the s’more thing, and I had eaten three of them before I got a really nice kick in the ribs. Jeeze, who ever thought i’d be glad to have the wind knocked out of me? I also took your advice, rachel, and so now i'm sitting here with my ipod playing the soundtrack from rent with the headphones around my stomach. I've always been obsessed with showtunes and broadway, and I am guaranteeing that liv will be, too.

She doesn't kick all that hard, but evidently there's a nerve there (my mom's a nurse practitioner, so I ask her about stuff), and olivia knows exactly where to hit. It's ummm...Fun...Yeah.
Cravings are fun, too. I have hated pistachios for my entire life, but the hardest hitting craving i've had is for pistachio ice cream. It's green and disgusting looking but I can't get enough of it. The worst food-related thing is that i've had to give up nuts because of the whole "baby might end up allergic to nuts" if I eat them while i'm pregnant. Pre-pregnancy, I lived on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. So much for that!
Music wise, olivia is like me, probably because I control what she listens to. That, and I sing at the top of my lungs, so she can hear me. Not that I didn't always sing at the top of my lungs. Now I just have a purpose. L.O.L. She started to move a lot when I had .R.E.N.T playing, and then I switched to the phantom of the opera, and she wasn't moving as much.
I'm going to go now. Today and all of my paranoia has taken a lot out of me.

I'm Due May 31st

May 31st. At least that's what my .O.B tells me, but I don't always trust her. She's really nice and I love her, but she's kind of scatterbrained. I mean, not taking me of my muscle relaxant until my baby wasn't moving? That's a little suspicious, if you ask me.

My doctor is a little scatterbrained sometimes, but I love her. She is hilarious. She is from poland and she just cracks me up. She calls me pumpkin and when we are listening to the heartbeat and all that she always calls my son little pumpkin. It's great. Lol.
