Ok...You can have soda, just with no caffeine..When I was pregnant I drank some rootbeer...But I limited it as well...Because even with no caffeine there is a lot of sugar in soda...And that's never good for a little baby. Just eat healthy...It's not good to eat fish when you are pregnant because of magnesium..Also..You can drink lemonade!! Also remember some people get gestational diabetes because they intake too much sugar...So try and limit your sugar!! Besides that just eat what you normally do...

that's crazy..Lol. Heartburn from water, that's pretty bad. I can eat or drink something for like 2 weeks and be fine and then all of a sudden it gives me heartburn. It's quite annoying.

Soda isn't particularly healthy, pregnant or not. I drink diet soda in moderation. No it doesn't eat holes in your brain. Aspartame cannot get into your brain. It is immediately broken down into three parts as soon as it hits your stomach. Two of them are amino acids and the other is methanol. However the amount of methanol created by one diet soda is less than that created by the same amount of orange juice. So, you aren't going to die from methanol poisioning anytime soon from drinking aspartame.

all of the capital letters in those links need to be made lower case for them to work.

If you want to eat healthier in pregnancy, but don't really like veggies, you could try to switch from eating white breads, pastas, and cereals to whole wheat ones. They are a lot better for you and are a step in the right direction. Nuts are also very healthy, but eat in moderation as they are calorie bombs. Try eating only lean meats like chicken breasts, turkey breasts, and once a week, a fish with a low mercury content. Drink skim or 1% milk and eat reduced fat cheeses when available. Avoid fried things if possible.

Certain fish, such as tuna should be limited. Look for info regarding high mercury concentration in this type of fish. I've limited my canned tuna consumption to two times a month.
Soda will take daned nasty as you progress. Hormones make sweets unpalatable for me. Soda also is super high carb wise. It's something like 39 grams per serving, huge sugar dose! I am 37 weeks and have managed to cut back on soda driking to about one a week. If you crave the carbonated drinks, check into the organic drink "juice squeeze". It's a great carbonated juice drink, cranberry black cherry is really good. It doesn't leave that rank bitters aftertaste you get from regular soda. I've also found sierra mist pretty good as well. Forget coke, it's #1 on nasty aftertaste what with all the raging hormones.

I've heard that its not good for you, but..Its not good for anyone. But I still drink soda all the time. If your really worried about it, don't drink as much of it.

There's not nearly as much caffeine in soda as there is in coffee and they say you can have 2-3 cups of coffee a day. So I don't think a glass of soda a day is bad. I'm staying away from it because i'm paranoid about everything although I did have a small glass today. I don't think 1 soda a week is going to do anything.

like I said earlier, you can drink caffeine as long as it's in moderation. I still drink soda all the time. But, I think it's good to stop at least a month or so before you deliver. I think it's possible for the baby to become addicted to the caffeine and go through withdrawl when they don't get it from you anymore. It is technically a drug.

I agree, key is the moderation here but if the fetus is no moving around like it was then I feel it is o.K. To have a soda or a cup of coffee a day or every other day but not a liter or two daily. I believe spartame is only in your diet sodas and a lotof your diet sweeteners and their are a lot of vert interesting stories on the internet of what it can do to you and your baby-to-be. I know that I used to drink a few sodas and always disliked water now I drink a lot of water and very feww sodas but everyone knows the difference between right is right aand wrong. My step sister-in-law drank a lot of classic coke before and after giving birth to her daughters and they are just fine but she never drank the diet kind.
Good luck!
