About a year ago (while my dad was in the
hospital) I was prescribed some elavil
because the entire situation basically put
my usually somewhat mild anxiety symptoms
in overdrive. The stuff was helpful
(certainly not magic, but helpful). It
said to take it continuously, but the
side-effects were worse than my *normal*
anxiety symptoms, so I only would take one
when the going was tough--like when I
couldn't sleep from jerking myself awake
or thinking I couldn't breathe without
thinking about it. It also helped with
some of my bad muscle tension.
I haven't taken any for almost a year, but
some of my symptoms have been flaring up
again recently. Last year, it got really
bad, and i'm worried (haha, catch-22,
there you are) that because the first
anniversary of my dad's death is coming
up, that's why it's starting again. I
still have (the same) bottle of elavil
from last year, which claims it "expires"
in april. Any idea if I can still take
these? Or since it is so close to the
expiration date, is that a bad idea?
