Emphysema can cause frequent experiences
of short breath. When a person with
emphysema tries to take a deep breath, the
diaphragm drops suddenly in the thoracic
cavity and can cause a quick increase of
pressure on the abdominal organs. This
“stress” can cause bladder sphincters
to relax ....when this happens, urine
comes out. This unwanted release of urine
is termed "stress incontinention". You can
visit a urologist and a neurologist to
discuss regulating the flow of urine in
the system.
