I read somewhere once that in order to
have a period you have to ovulate. But my
question is, when you're on birth control
you have a period but you dont ovulate...
How can this be? Does this mean that when
you're on bc then you're not having a
"real" period? Or do you not have to
ovulate in order to have a period?

From what I understand the pill prevents
you from ovulating and the hormones in the
pill create a fake period. And yes you
can have a period and not ovulate, you may
have a period for a few months after
stopping the pill but you might not
ovulate right away.

Smurfsgirl is correct. You can have a
period and not ovulate. I know you just
came off of nuvaring and it can take a
little bit of time before you ovulate
again after that. The hormones in the
pill and ring keep you from ovulating each
month.
