Are children that hold their breath in danger of medical problems?

Yes they are. Holding breath for a small amount of time isn't bad, but holding it for long periods of time and/or many times consecutively can cause them to pass out. This was particularly addressed for children and adults a like who are swimming....many have drowned having breath-holding competitions.
