I've had pain under the left side of my
rib cage since December... It comes and
goes and sometimes wraps around my left
side into the middle of my back for a
short period... I'm eating normally and
sleeping fine and have regular trips to
the bathroom. I was under quite a deal of
stress the last few months with my job,
but I have now since gotten a new one and
it is less stressful.. I am wondering if
maybe I have a hernia or maybe an ulcer,
but like I said eating and sleeping are
fine. It seems to hurt more when I sit
and think about it. The strange thing is
that I'll have pain that travels around my
left side, into the middle of my shoulder
blades and then onto the upper right side
of my back. .... My wife keeps telling
me that it's stress related. I did go to
see my doctor back in December and she
thinks its stress also.
Can prolonged stress do this kind of
thing???
My mind starts to wander thinking all
sorts of terrible things and that just
exacerbates it even more.... I have
never woken up in the middle of the night
over it though.... so I guess that is a
good thing.
It seems likely that the symptoms your
describe are connected to psycho-emotional
life. In any any case, you can perform an
abdominal ultrasound, stomach endoscopy
and blood analyses (standard plus liver
profile) to exclude hiatus hernia,
gastritis, peptic ulcer, diverticles,
liver and gallbladder disorders, etc.
