I work for an insurance company and I havn't heard of anyone having to add pregnancy coverage. I don't think that there is any such thing. Now I do know that if you don't have any coverage you can go to a provider and if they are a provider for medicaid then they can hook you up for it.

Once your little one is born your coverage will cover the baby for about 4-6wks after the baby is born. It depends on the insurance company. If you don't have the baby signed up before your 4-6 weeks is up then the baby will no longer be covered. So dont' get lost in your new little one before the time has passed. If you don't get them enrolled during that time you will have to wait until re-enrollment which isn't good.

Hope this helps

And to get them added to the insurance, you must have a social security card--most cases. And in most states you need 2 forms of id. Birth certificate(hospital preferrable will work) and the little card that goes on the bassinet when he or she is at the hospital. Is a form of id., (or the little id braclet.) .I would make sure and take both of them down there with you. You might can use the hospital birth certificate---but may also need the real birth certificate for the ss card. I just knew this lady one time--in the ss office trying to get this stuff for new baby. And this is what I heard.

Wow.......I got to say that that is alot of work....All we have to do at our work is add them electronicly. Of course everything we do is electronic.

However every ins company is different. You will have to call your ins company to see. We here understand that 6 weeks old baby doesn't have a bc yet and it's hard to get all of that in only 6 weeks.

Just call your company and request information about adding your little one.

yes, exactly this woman didnt think she needed anything either. It was like the last few days before his six weeks, and the ss office was messing with her--and she didnt know what to do. I dont know if she still had the card or the id braclet--so ladies---please for baby sake---do not wait until last minute .I know how it is with new baby--how time flies, when we are havin so much fun. Maybe it would be a good idea to check with insurance provider before the little guy even comes!!?

I would just call the insurance company and find out for sure. But most insurance companys cover you while you are pregnant. Also if you have aflac disability, and you have had the insurance for at least one year they will pay you a % of your wages when you are on maternity leave, I think they will pay you for 8-12 weeks.

Short term disability and medical coverage are different, a lot of people don't realize that they have short term disability. They sign up for it and then forget about it.

Aflac offers disaiblity insureance as does allstate, blue cross and blue shield, and others, you will need to pull your policies most disability coverage will pay for your maternity leave from 6 - 8 weeks unless there are complications healing or prior to delivery. As long as you aren't pre-existing they will pay for the delivery. I do know that allstate disability insurance for individual coverage has a clause that states that you must hold the policy for 10 months before you can deliver your child or they will not pay you.

All I can say is call your ins company or read your insureance policies.

Yes ma'am mine was seperate. And I did sign up for it---but my company forgot to take the benefits(short term and permanent disability) charges out of my checks--i assumed they were included with the very expensive insurance I had. So now I get 575.00$ a month for the rest of my life instead of a little over 600.00$ every two weeks. My company is multi--billionaire company--too

It probably puts the pregnancy in a whole new perspective once you find out the sex! I am so excited. I think I would rather have a boy first, but I feel like I may have a girl. Who knows!

you were talkin to me, right?? You were saying it is seperate for temporary and total disability--seperate than the insurance itself. I was just saying--yeah I know that one now--after they cheated me outta mine and I became disabled working there. And because it was seperate it was a seperate premium--that I did not pay--cuz they forgot to take it outta my checks. Even though they did prove I had signed up for it---and I would have only paid like a $60.00 total premium to have total disability today--thru my company. But instead I get 575$ a month from .S.S.I
