Does Any One Else Get Depressed Posted: 03-05-06 00:36am
My parents have always said ever scince I
got diabetis that I could lose my feet and
all this other stuff. Yes I know I am not
stupid. But I am a teen and want to live
my life and eat tons of ice cream with
fudge and a brownie, and not eat breakfast
all the time. Just live a normal teen
life. My parents just dont understand how
hard it is to feel this way and to have
some one nagging u constantly when you do
something wrong on accident. Its so hard
to just deal with it and live life. I c
all my friends eating suckers and popcorn
at school when ever and they offer me some
and I have to say no thanks and of course
they just keep offering. I just want to
cry every time. It just drills a whole
through my heart I feel emty not here. I
just cant stop thinking how it will affect
my job like if I become a doctor while I
have someones chest open and go um I think
I need to get a juice uhhh hang on. I
mean really do u see that hapining. I
guess I need to know if anyone feels close
to how im feeling. I just feel alone and
no one knows why. Well thanks for reading
this long note.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh I feel your pain!!! I am
twenty, diagnosed at 2 years old so there
is not much too much I don't understand
about been a teen with diabetes-i have
been through some hard yards. Probably
one of the hardest times of a diabetic's
life.
Do you have good doctors? Do you have any
friends who are diabetic. In high school,
I was always changing doctors, because my
parents moved quite often-so I found that
hard, and also I didn't have any diabetic
friends. Does your diabetes clinic have
like a support group or something? Cause
honestly, there is no one that understands
a diabetic as much as another one!!!!!It
is hard not to worry about the future as
well-but keep dreaming about the things
you want to do, because they will happen
if you make it.
Also, considered a pump?Not that I have
one, but I quite desperately want one.I
know-alot of questions!!

You Should Not Be Depressed At a Young Age Posted: 06-07-06 12:29pm
You have a lot to live for. I am almost
60 and was diagnosed 10 years ago. It's
hard, but what you want to do is join
weight watchers or hook up with a good
dietitican who will tell you how to eat.
You would be surprised. Read the book,
sugar blues, and 101 ways to cut sugar.
Read read read. Listen to the
dieticians.
Once you stop eating sugary foods you
won't miss them.
Do you like ice cream? Try bryer's
4grams carb ice cream - oommmgood! Also,
if you drink sugary drinks like cranberry
juice and orange juice, manufacturers make
them with less sugar. You can do it.
You're young, but once again, try going to
weight watchers and they will tell you how
to eat properly and enjoy your food.
