if you actually read that site, you'd have read about a tribe of people in africa (i believe it's africa) where none of the women can breastfeed, and the men all do it instead. And they sure don't have any breast pumps.

And who said this had to take place in the olde days anyway? It was never stated. But it is known, men who's wives died in childbirth back then, and the man brought the child to his breast because he was too poor for milk; and after a few days he began to lactate, and he fed the child. No horomones or breast pumps their either.

so the men of the old days are evil for not breastfeeding?

Breastfeeding doesn’t come easy to men, however, after a woman gives birth she lactates abundantly, so to suggest that men are evil for working in coalmines that are very dangerous as opposed to being househusbands struggling to breastfeed is hardly justifiable. Furthermore, to claim men are evil for not sending women into coalmines instead and for looking after the children is a completely unreasonable and a totally pathetic claim, isn’t it?

Grow up guys.

"so the men of the old days are evil for not breastfeeding? "

huh? Where does that come from? Did I say that a modern man is moral because he breastfeeds? No. Did I even imply that the man of the past was bad because he didn't? No. In fact I told a story of a man from the past who did.

I also mentioned the fact that his wife died. She can't be breastfeeding if she's dead. Did you miss that part?

I didn't say any of that, I didn't imply any of it, and I certainly couldn't even conceieve any of that; mostly because none of it makes sense.

A mother is obviously the one meant to feed the baby with her breastmilk. It is what her body is designed for. And men who breast feed either do so in dire circumstances, in situations where all the women are "dry" (african tribe example) or, in modern day, some men do it voluntarily to connect with their baby.

That said... Once a baby is old enough to eat solid foods, either parent can feed it. So at that point, daddy can be a househusband, and mum can go to work. Or, vice versa. Or, they could take turns. Because women are free now.

it was men's fault for oppressing her.

you spurred the debate with this comment.

To which I replied:

or maybe, the system of men working and women staying at home looking after the children was the best way, since women have breasts to feed the babies, and pregnant women doing manual labour like felling trees for wood is not such a wise idea, is it? Furthermore men don’t have breasts and instant milk was not around then. So forgive the evil man who, back in the old days did not send the women out to work when working conditions where far worse back then.

Have a bit of gratitude for your forefathers, whose only jobs where severe manual labour unlike today when jobs are a million times easier, thanks to men who invented computers etc, etc. Now you want to work so you can earn large sums of money in cute little offices with air conditioning and vending machines, why didn’t you want to work when the jobs involved digging coal out of holes in the ground? Or farming in cold fields when combine harvesters weren’t invented, or on construction sites where many men died, all for your benefit.
