“Proteins in urine” (proteinuria)
indicates a problem in the kidneys. The
maximum permitted protein level in the
urine is 30mg/dl. If there are proteins
found in the urine, the follow-up
procedure is to examine urine collected
over 24 hours. There should be no more
than150mg of proteins in urine excreted
over a 24 hour period. If the
urine-protein level is above 3,5g/24h
urine your daughter may be experiencing
glomerulonephritis. However, other
parameters of the kidneys’ function need
to be examined, as well: the creatinin,
urea, urinary sediment, blood pressure
etc. There are few conditions wherein
protein presence in the urine is normal
such as: functional proteinuria (in cases
of high temperature or great physical
efforts), idiopathic transitory
proteinuria, intermittent proteinuria,
and/or orthostatic proteinuria.
