Is Skin Rash on Thighs an STD? Posted: 03-08-06 01:37am
In the last few months I have been getting
small red bumps on my thighs. At times
they can be painful. They look and appear
like engrown hairs but they seem to keep
coming back, sometimes leaving small
scares. Does this seem like an STD? Is it
something I need to go to the E.R. for? I
dont have medical insurance so im really
not sure what steps to take. Honestly I'm
rather nervous about seeing a doctor for
fear its an STD. Any ideas of what it
could be? Thank You.

It doesn't sound as if small red bumps on
the thighs are a sign/symptom of an STD.
It seems more likely that you are
experiencing some kind of contact
dermatitis complicated with an infection.
You can try applying a cream containing
corticosteroid and antibiotic to the
localized area to help clear it up.
Nonetheless, it is best to visit a
dermatologist to correctly identify the
skin disorder and treat it properly with
expert advice.
