Sick And Low Blood Sugar Posted: 03-09-06 09:39am
Hi,
for the last few days i've had a terrible
cold and my blood sugar is all over the
place. Not only did I feel awful last
night but I woke up at 2 am with a
pounding/skipping heartbeat. Do you
think that being sick can effect
hypoglycemia?

Hi diana,
i think they occur when the body is
working harder...They seem to with me
anyway - so that would make sense if
you've got a cold your fighting. I
always seem to get them when im dehydrated
along with a headache and feeling sick.

It would make sense considering the
general stress the body would be under
anyway. How long have you been doing
severely low carbohydrate intake?

Hi stan,
i've only been on this carb restricted
diet for about a month. I've been feeling
much better otherwise and last night was
the only time i've had an attack like that
in months. I seem to be feeling better
today though, hope it continues.

That's not too bad. I was at that low
for one point, but only was able to do it
for about a week and a half. If you
notice the crashes getting more severe in
time, that means you need to add more
carbohydrate in. Your body will start to
tell you when it's time.
