Porcelain Gallbladder Posted: 03-09-06 11:01am
I have recently been diagnosed with
something called porcelain gallbladder.
All I really know about it is that the
gallbladder, from years of inflamation, it
turns this bluish color and basically is
of no more use. So the only option is
surgery. I have been told that the
surgery is done laproscopic, but if for
some reason the gallbladder begins to
break into pieces, they may have to open
me up to remove it. I am not thrilled
with this idea. I am a mother of 4 with
the oldest being 16 and the youngest 8, I
have a great husband and I know that my
children and my husband will help me after
surgery. I am not someone who likes to
lay around and I am hoping that this
surgery will not put me flat on my back
for a long period of time. If there is
anyone that has had gallbladder surgery
not laproscopically but like it was done
in the old days, just being completely
opened up, please answer and let me know
what kind of ordeal it was.
