Baby Not Showing On Ultrasound Posted: 03-10-06 04:06am
Hi
first pregnancy - by my records I am 7
weeks pregnant - been trying for a while -
some of you will know how you remember the
dates like your life depended on them!!
Started having lower abdominal pain and
spotting so went to the hospital. Had
rountine blood tests and ultrasound. The
scan did not show anything - no baby, not
even a sac.
As I have had previous ovarian problems
the doctors main conerns were that I was
experiencing an ectopic pregnancy. After
further blood tests - my hcg had doubled
so at least I knew I was pregnant and it
wasn't just all in my head!!!
As the hcg had doubled - this then
decreased the possibility of an ectopic
pregnancy - but where is the baby??!!!!
Has anyone else ever heard of someone in
the same position? Do some babies take
longer to travel through the fallopian
tubes?
Any help is greatly appreciated as cannot
understand why it is not showing and
cannot have another scan for 10 days -
it's agonising waiting....
Thanks heaps!
From an worried expectant mother

When I first went I was roughly 6 weeks, I
thought! I went to the hospital they
checked my blood and said congrats .
About a week later I had painfull cramps
and went to the hospital they said that my
numbers had not doubled and they feared
and ectopic pregnancy, so they did an
emergency ultrasound, and found nothing at
all, no baby....I was like ok, thats
weird...I swear i'm prego....Anyways they
sent me for a blood retesting 24 hrs later
and it had doubled. I then went to the
obgyn like a week later and they did an
ultrasound and found the baby, and
everything was great, very healthy.They
don't know why the ultrasound showed
nothing at the hospital except maybe it
either wasn't large enough for it to show
yet. I am now about 26 weeks prego and
i'm enjoying the thought of have'n a
healthy,chubby,little baby boy....I hope
that everything works out for you too,
congrats...And best of luck to you...Baby

In the Same Situation....... Posted: 03-26-06 14:29pm
Hello...I too am 5months pregnant and
still nothing is showing up on the
scans...My one nurse said that they
wouldn't be able to see anything if I was
under 5weeks and the other nurse said that
they should be seeing something by
now...My hormone levels are also
dodgy...My first blood test it didn't
double ...Then it did and then it didn't
quite again.I'm very confused and unhappy
and they too are noy ruling out an ectopic
prgnancy which I am shitting myself
over...I truly am so frightened.I'm going
in for my 3rd scan this friday coming
which will be the 31st of march at 9:00am
to see whats going on....I just no he will
be in the wrong place. They even had to do
internal scans and still nothing.I had a
bleed which I had after having sex with my
partner and ever since then iv'e been
worrying so bloody much. He's still there
we just don't no where yet....I'm
expecting the worst and my partner and my
mum insists everythings alright....How do

Well I guess i'm in the same place as u
are maddie666. Except this is my second
pregnancy (my first son is now two). And
i'm only about four weeks according to hcg
levels. As u I was having lower abdominal
pain and only seen blood like twice and
only when I wiped. Had blood work (first
day was 1100) and two u/s and they didn't
see no baby no nothing also. Well the
next day my hcg was 1600 and two more u/s
and still no baby no nothing. Well they
think I may be experiencing an ectopic
pregnancy also, or starting to miscarry or
the baby may be fine. Well I know am
seeing brown blood when I wipe which I
found out is normal. So I guess only time
will tell. My doctor told me even if my
hcg is doubling it could still be a
ectopic pregnancy they will not know
forsure until they can see where the egg
is at. So as I was told it's just a
waiting game until I find something out.
I go back wed. For more blood work. And
if hcg went up another u/s and I will go
back everyother day until they find
something about what's going on. Well I
wish u the best of luck. Oh, also I was
told they really can't see anything unless
ur hcg is above 3,000 so I donno how high
ur was. But I wish u all the luck in
finding out what's going on.

If u are indeed pregnant and u are five
months they should beable to find the baby
at that age. So I hope she meant five
weeks. Cause I would say it's normal to
not see anything a five weeks all
depending on your hcg and everything.
Cause i'm four weeks and they can't see
anything
