Post Hysterectomy Big Stomach And Lack of Sexual Desire
Posted: 03-09-06 17:00pm

To all of you ladies suffering from big "pooches" and lack of sexual desire I must say, yes! Thank god I am not alone! I had a complete hysterectomy 2 years ago and since then I have been gaining weight and my stomach looks like a balloon. I can take sex or leave it. I have to really try hard to get into the mood and the penetration is very uncomfortable. What can I do? Is there any solution?

Lack of Sexual Desire

No you are not alone I am a 33 year old who had a hystorectomy 3 years a go and ever since the surgery I also have been gaing the weight. I recently went back to the gym and after six weeks no change. As far as the sex I don't have a sex drive either. I can do with out but my poor husband is going crazy. When I finally do give in it is so painfulthat I end up in tears before we even get started. I also blled sometimes after the fact. I have gone to the doctor over and over but the basicaly tell me it is in my head. So please if any one has any answers let us know.

I just contacted my doctor yesterday to ask him why my stomach is swelling and hard and my ankles. I am 33 years old and had a vaginal hysterectomy in february, I still have my ovaries and tubes, my nurse called me back to inform me that it has nothing to do with my surgery. It has too. I can hardly eat I get full very fast, I am just miserable. At night my ankles are so swollen that it feels like they are going to burst. I have not changed my activity or salt in take at all. I am barely eating because I am so uncomfortable. Please help!

Get a Second Opinion

If you have insurance - not hmo - get a second opinion immediately. I don't know why people don't see a second doctor. Go to your insurance company's web site and look up doctors in that field.

Posted: 11-13-06 01:41am

Hi I am 26 years old.I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago and I need help also. I have no sex drive at all. I could probably go the rest of my life and never have any more. I just got done with another laproscopy. And they didn't find much just scar tissue. Can anyone help. I am young and feel like i'm really old. In the past 2 years I have gained so much weight. I used to be a size 4 and now i'm a size 13. Is this normal.I think not. I don't know much about all of this. I wish now I wouldn't have had it done. I get scared alot. I just feel like i'm all alone. I feel sorry for my husband. I don't want any at all. And he does. Does anyone know of any kind of hormones I can take??? I really need any kind of advice>>

I had a hysterectomy in december due to pcos and endo.

I now have the following side effects

no or low sex drive
tenderness during sex but this is due to the recent surgery.

I have horrible vaginal dryness even when turned on and now my boyfriend thinks its cause he doesn't do the job anymore.
Of course he doesn't believe me on that one.

I also have gained the weight but its due to inactivity on my part
and I have developed a hemotoma and been told it could take up to 13 months for it to go away if it doesn't then it can be removed through surgery

i was just curios if anyone else has had these problems?

A good friend of mine said his wife had them the first two years and then it all just went away.

Oh, and they have me on a estrogen pills since the patch wasn't working but I have been taking them in the last week to see if these are what are causing my problems.

Anyway any comments are welcomed as I am really confused about whats going on.

Xxx Sexually Explicit, But May Be Helpful. Xxx

Moisture problems? Have your partner pleasure you orally (go down on you; "eat you out"). It works for me. Also, try experimenting with lubricants. Some are just plain lube, like KY Jelly-- others are flavored or provide warm sensations. Try several kids and see what works for you. Another option is Vagifem, a prescription vaginal estrogen suppository. A little extra estrogen in the vaginal and vulval areas can make a BIG difference in the way sex feels.

Pain? Regardless of what they tell you, there IS scar tissue down there now. In some cases, your vagina may have been shortened. In essence, your anatomy is a little different now. You may want to try different positions to find one that works with your new "terrain". Try being on top-- this lets you guide the action and intensity. YOU are in control. If you absolutely cannot find a comfortable position, talk to your doctor.

More tips: Don't rush things. Take your time and learn to RECEIVE plenty of pleasuring. I also had a hard time getting started, but once my sweetie and I hit on the formula one night after lots of experimenting (and pain and tears and dread after so much painful sex)... I had such an orgasm that I had aftershocks for an hour afterward. SOMETHING just hit right. I was on my hands and knees, and my sweetie was short-stroking instead of ramming it home as usual. Perfect combo! I got off like I hadn't done in years. I thought about that all the next day, and guess what? I got horny. We did it again. And I got horny again. My drive came back.

Yes, I'm on HRT (Syntest). Have been for several years now. But I had come to dread painful sex and my libido tanked. When we had awesome sex, it was an aphrodisiac. We found a way for sex to be fun again for BOTH of us.

So, take heart. It IS possible. But it will take some playing around to learn what feels good NOW. Fortunately, PLAY is FUN! Very
Happy

shortend vagina
Posted: 01-26-08 22:46pm

Due to my uterus and cervix removed the canal is shorter and it does hurt with deep penetration. Like hitting a brick wall!! Do vaginal dilators help lengthen vagina or just widen? There has to be something to fix this right?

Infection after op, dent in side
Posted: 02-11-08 10:15am

I ended up with an infection in my wound after my full hysterectomy, incorrect medication also given to me, wound was open for 2 wks, I now have pain in my left handside (open wound side), Dr said it could be my bowel has adhered itself to the scar tissue, its been 5 mths since my op, I have only been back into work for 3 days, as it is more painful after I sit in an upright chair or a office chair, the last visit to the hospital was for a scan, the lady said that adhersions do not should on a scan, no sign of build up of fluid behind the scar, if I try to stand upright from a chair it is painful, so I have to straighten up slowly I look like an old dear getting up.(I am 46) and have always been the live and soul of any gathering, I can't run or dance as this is to painfull. Sometimes I have an indent on my left side, then sometimes I don't, this is worrying, as the Dr said my intestines have moved to the now empty spaces in my body were the organs used to be. I know my work are getting fed up with me, but what can I do, I go back to the hospital in 3 wks time, I am hoping that they can do something for me I do not want to be taking painkillers for the rest of my life. Any ideas on what this?

I too have a dent on my left side now. The reason I had the hysterectomy was because my colon had wrapped around my left ovary twice and adhered to it. I had constant pain in my side before the surgery because of it. Can they scope you to see if it's a possibility that you have adhered to something inside?

Hormones
Posted: 02-21-08 13:21pm

Hi, all. I had a hysterectomy at age 34. I'm 58 now. Started out on hormome pill. That worked for about 18 years. Then for some reason it didn't. Then I took a shot once a month. For the first 2-2 1/2 weeks I loved it. Then it would taper off and my husband would say"Time for a shot?" I hated that. It was a nice way of saying 'Hey, you're ill tempered, impatient, a nice way to say I was getting B#!*$Y. Then the big breast cancer scare was spoken about everywhere. I wanted 'natural hormones' not horse pee. To date I have seen 3 different doctors, spent waaay over a two thousand dollars. (Natural hormones are really expensive!!) This has been over the last 2 years. Compounded hormones, Divigel, creams, drops and others. I give up. My doctor gives up. I was put back on the fake stuff 3 days ago. This one is Estradiol. No improvement yet. I miss my shots. Before the day was half over I was a happy happy camper. I'm tired of putting on clothes because I'm cold and yanking 'em off because I am fixing to combust into flames. I have them about once an hour. I've done the spit test, and the blood test. I feel like a failure.

Hi, everyone. I am so glad that I found this site. I had a hysterectomy 8 mo ago, cervix lft. Approx the 5 mo is when I started bleeding EVERYDAY, non stop. I had the hyst, because that's all I was doing was bleeding non stop for 2 yrs. The doctor told me you'll feel like an 18 yr old again. It's more like an 81 yr old. My back hurts, acne, bleeding, joint pain, swelling, gained weight big time around middle. The list goes on and on. I have discussed with him on several occasion re: bleeding. He states that it is cyclic bleeding which can occur when your cells from the cervix sluffs off. Well, if I would have know then what I know now I would have never had the surg done. It has done nothing but cause me to be miserable. No sexual desire anymore. Hurts too much. Don't even want to think about it. He wants to put me on birth control pills. I can't take birth control because of migranes. Everything I have read states you don't need progestrone if you have no uterus. Found out my doctor retiring. Had to find new one. They did ultra sound. Don't have results back yet. She claims I shouldn't be bleeding at all. Also can't seem to get hormones regulated. Really at my wits end. Lost job because of all of this. But I'm glad to know that I'm not alone.

Hi All, I guess I'm not alone after all!
It seems we were all mislead into thinking a hysterectomy was going to help us, well surprise surprise!
My ob told me my uterus was abnormally enlarged. I had terrible periods, heavy bleeding, cramps from hell. He said having a parcial hysterectomy was the solution. I had my surg. in Nov 2007
I now have cronic pain in my ovaries (both sides) I had 2 CT Scans that revealed swelling of my tubes, at first my Dr thought it was an ovarion cyst causing the pain...now he says its my tubes swelling and filling up with fluid thats doing this...tomorrow I am schelduled for surg. he's going to cut out my fallopian tubes and leave my ovaries....please say a prayer for me that this will work. I can't go on with this pain everyday!
I don't feel so alone...it's such a shame that these doctors don't really care about their patience, and I have run out of patience for them too!

I am going to be 48 and I had a full hysterectomy Jan of 06. At first I was losing weight. After 4 months went by I started gaining weight little by little. I gained 30 pounds and it seems like it is all in my middle. It is driving me crazy because I can't seem to get rid of it.

Post hysterectomy-big stomach, lack of sexual desire
Posted: 07-25-08 06:17am

I had total hysterectomy 1 year ago. At first everything was great, then about 3 months later, it all started to go downhill. I put on weight, bloated out big time & then started to show symptoms of chronic IBS. I have had various investigative procedures, including an endoscopy, (I guess I can say that I really do know myself inside and out!). After this I noticed that I'd started to lose weight & the IBS had stopped, & realised that I'd forgotten to take my hrt for 5 days. Once I went back to taking the tablets, it all began again. I had my dosage lowered but that didn't help so tried supplementing hrt with Black Cohosh which helped but had bad hot flashes so now I am trying the gel but judging from my fat face this morning, guess that isn't working either so it looks like it's back to the doctor again!
