Is Alcohol Causing Gastritis and Other Abdominal Pains? Posted: 03-11-06 00:15am
Im 23 and not in the best health. I have
been an alcoholic for 3 years and smoke
cigarettes reguallary. Recently after a
night of drinking I got a headache so I
took 2 advils. When I woke up in the
morning I had sharp stomach pains and
constipation. Severe pain lasted for 2
days or so, the next 3 days my stomach
still felt bad but seemed to be getting
better. I still have constipation and my
stomach still becomes easilly upset. Do
you have have any idea what could be wrong
with me?
It is probable that you are experiencing
chronic gastritis due to
overconsumption/abuse of alcohol.
Painkillers can also contributedto stomach
irritation. It is also possible that you
have a peptic ulcer. Regardless, the main
problem (health, emotional, psychological)
is alcohol abuse. All these other
problems are only consequences of
alcoholism. If you are ready to stop
drinking and start a new life, you can
pick up the phone and contact a local
detox center. After detox, you can admit
yourself to an addiction treatment center
and learn more about yourself and the
reasons for your alcohol abuse. You can
find a way to live and be happy without
alcohol...and you are not alone.
