Epilepsy No Abnormal Brain Waves. Fits From Deep Subconcious Posted: 03-12-06 01:12am
Dear all.
Hi I have been having seizures now for
almost 3 yrs and I have seen 3
neurologists. I am on antiseizure
medication. But I still have seizures. I
average 17 - 20 per month. Most are grand
mal type. I recently had a video eeg
study for a week in hospital. Now I have
seen my neurologist and I have my reports
back. He has began to reduce one of my
meds because the report showed I was to
highly medicated. Also there were no
signes of epilepsy anywhere throught my
stay there. I am sad and I dont know what
to do now. My neurologist believes that
my epilepsy is now undercontroll.
Although he also thinks that my
subconcious is acting out ( wanting to
bring something from my past to my
attention) so I have to also beging seeing
a profesional to talk to. I am glad that
I am seen as not a fake. The report
showed that my seizures are very real
seizures although the ones that I had
while in the hospital were not caused by
abnormal brain activity they were caused
by deep subconcious problems. Does anyone
else out there have these same problems.
If so please I would love to chat and
share stories.

I am sorry that the findings were not what
you expected. Psychogenic are indeed
"real" seizures in that they are not faked
but do come from something deep in your
subconscious. It is not too uncommon to
have epileptic as well as psychogenic.
They often respond very well to therapy
and learning de stressing techniques.
Have you shown abnormal activity in prior
eegs during seizures?
I hope that you can find others who have
been through this. I know there are a few
who come to www.Efa.Org at the
ecommunities there who have both types.
I really hope that you can get this kind
controlled as well!
