Dr.s Appt Yesterday Posted: 03-14-06 10:39am
Well yesterday I went to my ob.Gyn and got
some good and some bad news. Well the bad
news was that my blood pressure shot up.
I'm normally 110/70 (or really close in
that range) well yesterday, it was 140/70.
Which isn't normal at all for me. The
Dr. Wasn't that concerned because the
bottom number was good. He said that it
shot up because of my swelling. I didn't
notice the swelling so I was kinda
nervous. Sure enough after a full weekend
and day of activities, my ankles were
.H.U.G.E!!!!!!! Like if I weren't me, i'd
think I was in pain!!!
Well the good news was that I had only
gained 2 lbs!!!!! Woo hoo!!! Now, i'm a
sturdy 186! (lmao..Still huge) normally I
gain 12 lbs. In a month (3lbs a week).
So I swore I had gained 6 lbs. Because it
had only been two weeks. I was soooo
happy because I was being really careful
because my .Dr warned me that I could have
hypertension because of my weight.
So I basically got shot down with how good
my weight gain was with my blood
pressure....But my sugar tests came in and
they were normal.(132) I don't know what
high or low numbers are though....
Thanks for listening yall!!

Sara how far along are you?
You need to watch your swelling and your
blood pressure. You may developing
pre-eclamcia.
I gained 38lbs with my first pregnancy...
Up to 187lbs!!! But it's so worth it :)

I'm 33 weeks..I'll be 34 .Friday. I
know....The whole thing is just scary,
because the last thing I want to have to
do is deliver my baby early. Hopefully,
at my next appt, it'll be better. I'm
gonna go get a blood pressure machine to
take it regularly.

Sorry to hear about the blood pressure
issue... I know the feeling, mine has
been skyrocketing but it's more of a
stress issue. All the preg books I have
say that the swelling is okay and a small
increase in blood pressure is okay as well
as long as there is no sudden swelling
(some swelling is normal) and no protein
in your urine. If your doc wasn't
worried then I wouldn't be.
I've got a doc appt on thurs and they're
going to check everything out with me. I
hope she doesn't put me on disability for
the stress cuz I need to work right now.

Sarah
good for you on the pressure machine, I
have one too. I take mine about three
times a day. I didnt' have proteine in
my urine for a while. I did have high
blood pressure and swelling. But then
again I was only 24 weeks along and I had
really excessive swelling in my face and
fingers as well as my legs. After I
delivered my legs were sooo misscolored I
was embarrassed to wear shorts or skirts
for like 4 months. I didnt' think that
it was that important (wasn't aware of
pre-eclamsia that much at the time) until
I went into the hospital.
Just be careful and keep an eye on your
pressure, swelling, headaches, ect. I
bring my cuff to work with me everyday.
And so far I have no swelling or high
blood pressure, headaches or anything like
that. My weight gain is only 5 lbs.
Yay
good luck tigres let us know about your
appt tomorrow.

The swelling was pretty all of a sudden.
It wasn't swollen at the .Dr office but
after I cooked that evening and sat down I
looked down and boom!! Lol...But when I
woke up this morning, they were fine. The
swelling was probably due to me being on
my feet alll day long this past weekend
and yesterday...
Tigress, good luck tomorrow, I hope they
don't find anything wrong.....
