At the Dr.s Office....
Posted: 03-14-06 10:52am

Yesterday in the waiting room there was a girl who looked about my age. I'm 33 weeks and she looked like she was about my size and build too. So I asked her her due date and she said "tomorrow"!!! Ahhhhh...My mouth dropped. She asked me mine and I said "not until the 1st week of .May".....Then her mouth dropped!!! Lol...Oh my .God.....We were like comparing bellies and mine was def. Larger.

She was with her mom and her mom was like I think they need to check your due date again. Now, we have the same .Dr. So I know, they know how good he is. Everyone in the waiting room started looknig at my belly and laughing like "honey you're really not gonna make it"!! My fiance was cracking up because as I posted, he doesn't think i'll make it either.

So I asked my .Dr as soon as I got in the room if he thinks i'm going to make it to my due date. He told me i'd probably go past it being that i'm a new mom and due date are never "right on". I don't get my cervix checked until my next appt. So I wouldn't know if anything is wrong. I feel fine, just tooooo much pressure in my pelvis/hip area.

Now, if I wasn't insecure about how big my belly was before, I really am. People stare at me!!  and I still have 7 weeks left!!!!

Your belly size doesn't really have anything to do with your due date. Some woman are just smaller and some are larger. I'm almost 37 weeks and a relative of mine is 32/33 weeks and she's bigger than I am too. It's like looking at a woman whose barely even showing and saying well she's going to go a lot longer than 40 weeks because she's so small lol just doesn't work that way.

I wouldn't worry about what other people think. This is your pregnancy and you should enjoy it as much as you can. And since you still have 7 weeks to go you can probably expect to get a little bigger.

Lol....That's the scary part. I was petite when I got preggy, so I knew that I would get relatively large....But my belly is measuring 45 inches around. My Dr. Hasn't pulled out the tape measurer to measure my fundal height so I don't know if I really am measuring large or what!!!! He does a "hands on" feeling of my uterus and baby when I go. He thinks i'll be right on track.....It's just hard to believe that I have 7 weeks to go. It's not that I don't think I can make it..I don't think my body can!!

Thanks for your response!!!!!

Yep..It's true size has nothing to do with it..My sister was barely showing a bump when she went into labor and me well let's just say I jumped about 4 jeans sizes up, and I had my baby on the 26th of feb and I have only lost one jean size..So be patient..It's better to go long as possble anyway..The baby will come when he is ready..Oh and don't stress about your growing belly..Pregnant women are beautiful=) good luck and happy delivery..Tiffany

Thank you!! I know that my baby needs to be there for at least 7 more weeks. I just have a hrd time explaining how important it not to jinx me. I am a strong believer in jinxing and having people tell me constantly that "i'm not gonna make it to my due is" is really starting to take a toll on me.

Granted, I do like everyone being sooo nice to me cuz of my big belly. The other night, me and my fiance went to this awesome chineese buffet and this older man and his wife were in front of us waiting to pay. And the man turned around and asked me if this was my first. I told him yea and he stuck out his hand to shake mine and congratulate me. He then shook my fiance's hand and was acting kinda weird. All of a sudden he pulls out 30 dollars and tells the cashier to put this towards our bill. My fiance repetatively told him it wasn't neccessary for him to do that and he got kinda mad. He said "i just did"...And I was like..Hey...I don't mind at all!!

I was like that couldn't of happened .J.U.S.T because I was preggy with our 1st child!!! Come on...So we went back and gave our waitress a 10 dollar tip!!!!!!

45 inches round your belly - I have been measuring that big for the last 2 months and I still have 5 weeks left. My belly grew all of a sudden when I was about 5-6 months and it hasn't really grow since, (just changed shape as baby dropped). Don't worry about your bellysize people have been telling me (since xmas) that I wasn't going to make my due date and the doctor must have my dates incredible worng (ha - like I didn't have any idea) my hubby and I had been trying for a few months before I became pg so I have a pretty good idea of when it happened. Don't listen to them - your precious little bundle will turn up when he/she is ready and not before.
Good luck!

Thank you for your response! I actually conceived about 3 weeks before .Hurricane .Katrina. I don't know exaclt which day, but I have a pretty good idea. It's funny when people think you're clueless about your own pregnancy huh?! Lol...Strangers crack me up!

I had something happen to me that I know has happened to others, but it just kind of bothers me. This stranger out of no where just starts rubbing my belly!! Ihad to mentally back up and breathe. I guess my eyes gave my anger away and she immedietly pulled her hand away. She appologized repetedly stating that she didn't even know me and how could she do that? Lol...I then started laughing because I didn't want to make her feel any worse than she did.

Is that strange?? It's like the only person i'm comfortable with touching my belly is my .Fiance. It's like everyone else wants to feel her move and they want me to let them know when she does and I lie and say she hasn't moved. (she'll be moving when I tell them this) I never was a touchy feely person and thought i'd get over it...But it still bothers me after 34 long weeks of being preggy....

Am I wrong for doing this??

Sarah, I hated people coming up and touching my stomach. I never had a stranger come up and do it, but sister in law constantly did it. So I just grit my teeth and bared it. Her 2 girls 10 and 13 would also do it a lot, which wasn't as bad....But I didn't even feel comfortable with kids touching it! But what was worse is my sister in laws husband (my hubby's bro-in-law) would come up and put one hand on my back and the other on my stomach, that made me super uncomfortable and I said "when i'm up and walking around she doesn't move" and we ran into them at the store, so I really was up and walking around. I don't think it's wrong for not wanting people to touch your belly. Just because your pregnant doesn't make you public property! That's still your belly and that baby doesn't belong to anyone either! So I feel your pain. Don't worry it will soon be over and you will be able to hold your baby and your belly will eventually go away.
Now my problem is I don't want everyone to hold my baby. I don't want anyone to really visit me either, even tho I love my whole family (and *most* of my in laws) it's just that I just went through all that work and I want to enjoy her for awhile. I feel bad when I take her back from someone that just got her, but hey she's mine. I especially don't like kids holding her. I love kids, but they definately don't need to be carrying around my newborn. If they sit next to me on the couch they can, but they want to walk around with her and I don't allow it. Wow, this is a long post. Sorry about that. I had to vent a little bit lol. Anywho don't feel bad for not wanting everyone touching you!!!

Thanks for you rreply. It's good to know that i'm not alone. I don't even like my mom to touch it! Lol...I know that I was in her but it's not the same.
My fiance's brother always thinks its ok to come up from behind me and straddle me and my belly. Now before I was preggy he would do that to hug me. By the way,he's like 6'4/6'5 so it never bothered me because he never bent over. But now that I have a belly he like humps me! Wow...It's so offensive and I always tell him about himself, but he's the real arrogant type. Ya know?? And I tell my fiance but he's like "he just loves you" and caca like that....It even gets to the point when he kisses me goodbye I do the whole turn for the cheek and he insists on full on kiss...Like lips and all!!!! He's always talked about how attractive he finds pregnant women, but I didn't think he's act like that towards .M.E!! Of all people...He's seriously like my brother!! What should I do about this?! It seems like every time I push him away or cuss him out it makes no difference because the very next time I see him, he's acting this way!!
