Are persistent chest and shoulder pains indicating coronary Posted: 03-15-06 13:02pm
Hi -
I'm only 22 years old, but i've been
having a consistent dull aching pain in my
chest (right in the middle), and my
shoulder aches in conjunction with the
chest pain.
And, a few days ago, I had a sudden
crushing feeling in my chest. i thought it
was just really bad heart burn, but now
I'm getting worried because of the
persistent chest/shoulder pains.
I'm only 22 so it can't be any serious
problem, but how worried should I be? I
also went to my GP recently for an annual
checkup, and she said everything was fine.
Should I go back or get a second opinon?
It is not likely that a 22 year old man
have the coronary disease, angina
pectoris.Nonetheless, you can take an ECG
to exclude angina pectoris or any other
heart disease. Chest/heart pain in young
adults like yourself is usually caused by
muscle pain or psycho-emotional suffering.
Emotional suffering can be transformed
into organic pain. This is called
"somatoform disorder". You can consult a
doctor to request the physical
examinations and to exclude organic
disorders.
