Bored of Milk

Hi!

(sorry if my english is not very clear, I will do my best ...)

i have a 4months old daughter with 6,1kg. Since the 2nd month my wife's breast stopped giving good milk
so we began to give her "adapted milk" (sorry if that's not the correct term, the term is a rough
portuguese-to-english translation), more precisely nestlé nan.

We take her on a regular basis to visit our physician which says the baby is in perfect health.

Problem is 3 weeks ago, she starts crying each time we put the bottle of milk in her mouth, and
we spend almost an hour and a half to get her to drink the 6 oz (180ml here) of milk.

We have already tried all kind/brand of milk/bottles combinations in the market with no success.

I are well aware of the importance of milk in this early stage of her life so we "force" her to
drink it, but this is turning in to an annoying situation, more for the baby who suffers for
1,5hours in our lap.

So we got to the conclusion she doesn't like milk at all, not just one specific brand.

As the time being we are already giving her a soup and triturated fruit (once again sorry for the translation)
and she seems to like it a lot.

Is there anyone with a similar problem or can anyone advise me ?

How can a newborn get bored of milk ?!?

Thanks in advance,

Maybe your daughter is lactose intolerant and her body is rejecting the milk. Does she have lots of gas and odd bowel movements? If she's very irritable after drinking milk your probably not doing her any favours by giving it to her. Breast milk is the best cause it has all the mother's natural immune fighters in it, however if it's dried up there's nothing you can do about it. She should be okay with the foods your giving her just be careful not to give her too heavy of adult foods cause her little body will not be able to digest it and she will become constipated. This is the opportunity to get her used to and love the tastes of vegetables so take it easy on the fruits cause this may develop a sweet tooth and she won't accept the veggies if she has the choice of fruit instead. Many green vegetables have calcium in them so don't be worried that she's not getting it from milk. :)

i don't think so... She has a normal digestion, and she doesn't through up or has any skin manifestation.
The problem is really at feeding time, as soon as she realises it is milk she stops drinking it.
Two weeks ago she loved it. I suppose it is related with the fact that we started giving her solids and she founf new flavours (soup, fruit,...).

but with four months seems too soon for more than one solid meal per day... Am I right?
Either way, we are being very carefull with the food, no gluten, and we are introducing one vegetable per week to prevent alergic reactions.

Greetings,
ll

Luis,
sometimes if their throat or ear hurts they will act like they dont want the milk. It is the drinking it , that they dont like if their ears or throat hurts. Because it will hurt when they swallow. I would see if doc can check her out. This happened to my grand daughter---she would just cry cry cry. She wanted her milk--it just hurt her too much to drink it.

took her to the physician and he examined her, throat, ears, seems to be all ok.
Talked with a friend doc which works in the local hospital pediatrics and she told me that a growing number of newborn is reacting like this to the milk after the first soup/fruit.
She told me also that this 'phase' will pass during time.

She is now drinking ~3oz out of 6 and stops... Guess it's getting better.
I am giving her the last 3oz with infant's 'instant cereal' with a spoon.

I hope this is a sign things are getting betters.

Thanks,

Well, first of all congrats on being such an involved father. :)
i guess that makes sense...I mean if you were fed nothing but milk for months and than someone gave you a taste of something different you probably wouldn't be to anxious to go back to milk, eh?

When I was referring to vegetables, I did mean in soup form...I agree she's a little to young for solids and I guess the proof will show up if she starts to get constipated. If anything the little darling has a hearty appetite...But take care with this one also...Mine had one to...And now has a weight problem.

Still not sold on milk...Remember we are the only mammals on earth that continue to drink milk past the infant stage. Of course the mother's milk is the best however once we get to cows or even goats milk in my opinion it's no longer necessary. With all the hormones and other additives they add to milk it may be even contrary to our health.
A website that explains more notmilk.Com

may she grow up healthy and happy. Cheers. :)
