Update/ Question Posted: 03-18-06 03:52am
I got my blood tests done, I find out the
results in a week or so when I have my doc
appointment, I really didnt think they
would use 5 tubes..Man! They collapsed
one of my veins because im really tiny and
I have small veins and the needle had too
much suction lol.. They got about a tube
and a half from my left arm and then
decided it would work best using a baby
needle so the went to my right arm. It
hurt cause the nurse kept looking around
and her hand was kinda shaky so it kept
prodding around in there. My left arm
hurts now from the vein being collapesed
and abused lol.. Maybe i'll have a nice
bruise there tomorrow lol..
So my questions are
1) for the first round of blood tests why
do they need so much blood, what are they
testing for?
2) once you have the baby and breast feed
when can you start taking b/c
3) is breast feeding even worth it, or
would formula be better?
4) is it true that if you breast feed the
baby will always have diarehea untill it
starts eatting other food? And if yes,
why is does it happen if u breast feed and
not if u use formula?

7lbs something and he was 5lbs something
his mom saidbut he was a couple weeks
early..
Right now im 5'2 and hes 5'6, im 17 and

When I got weighed at the doc I weighed
87lbs, when my mom was 22 she weighed 98
lbs. Im not anerexic or balimic and

when you go for
your booking visit either with your gp or
your midwife, you'll be asked to give some
blood. This is to check your blood group
and whether you are rhesus positive or
negative, your haemoglobin level, and your
immunity to german measles (rubella).
Your blood is also tested for syphilis,
and hepatitis b. If you have a particular
reason for concern, you can also ask to be
tested for toxoplasmosis and hepatitis c.
All pregnant women are now offered the
test for hiv/aids, but you don't have to
have it if you don't want to. These
initial blood tests are very important
because they give you and your carers
important information about your health
and any possible problems you might have
during your
pregnancy.
answer 2 - depends on the type of birth
control.
Usually you can not take the pill while
breast feeding. You can have an iud/ius
fitted at your 6 week check up
answer 3 - breast feeding is more than
worth it.
A) it's free!
B) breast milk contains millions of
specialist antibacterial agents and other
goodies to give baby the very best
start.
C) it is custom made to suit your baby.
D) no need for all that sterilising
equipment and such - every meal is already
perfectly sterile and prepared to just the
right temp for baby.
Answer 4 - babies who are brestfed have
looser stools than formula fed babies but
not diarrhea. Formula fed babies often
suffer with colic, constipation and the
like oh and smelly nappies eeeewww lol
also breastfed babies get to taste things
you eat in your milk so by the time
weaning comes around they already
recognise certain tastes.
(i think your question should have been
the other way around - do formula fed
babies have constiapation and not breasfed
babies - why? Instead of do breastfed
babies have diarrhea)

Whats looser stools?
I asked about diarehea cause my mom told
me today if I breast feed the baby will
have diarehea all the time, me and my two
brothers were all on forumula so yeah. It
would kinda make scence cause what I eat
would always be differnt and they wouldnt
be use toit

Breastfed babies have soft poo not
diarrhea and that is good because babies
muscles aren't strog and it can make them
very poorly if they always have to try to
push hard poo out.
Formula makes poo hard
stools is a name for poo (just less
vulgar) and looser means that they are
softer and easier to push out.

Hehe breastfeeding is great! The poo is
softer and sometimes it can be runny but
it doesnt smell anywhere near as bad as
formula poo. I actually have a friend wow
loved the smell whenever she was over she
would change macy! And I was given a bc
that was safe for taking during pregnancy
at my 6 week appt. (obviously I stopped
taking it cuz im pregnant again! I just
suck at pill taking. Im getting an iud
this time! Birth control for 5 or 10 year
depending on which one ya choose) and you
can start giving your baby baby rice at 2
months like a tsp mixed with some
expressed milk in a bottle. Some ppl say
it doesnt help but my granny swears it
makes them sleep better and I agree

1)they're testing you for everything and I
mean everythings(stds,problems iron, etc
2) like dani said there is b/c u can take
when breast feeding alothough most drs
wont give u a prescription till ur 6 weeks
appt and dont recommend sex until then!
3) I breastfed my daughther the first
month/my son for a day I dont like the
afterpains and feeling depressed which I
found rbestfeeding made me feel so I swear
by formula
4)the reason babys have looser
stools(diarhea is considered to watery
stools more than twice a day) on
breastmilk is because it is easier to
digest it looks yellow with cucmber
seeds(which is also common in formula with
dha&rha) formula contains more iron
making babys crap harder and it does
stink
honestly I think
breastfeeding/supplementing with formula
is great if I wasnt in so much pain I
would have brestfed cam longer(the more
kids u have the worse the afterpains get
it feels like ur going through labor
again(contractions are incredibly strong)
