Is there a Pill that Will Stop my Acne?
Posted: 03-19-06 13:44pm

I am taking Ortho-lo as my birth control. I have been told my acne is hormonal. I was wondering if there is a pill that will stop my acne. I am using Retin a cream but it is just making my skin pill and red. I really want this all to go away. I took accutane already and I have tried everything under the sun but nothing seems to work. Help!

There isn’t any medical treatment that will cure acne 100%. Medical treatment can help to decrease the disease’s duration. Medical treatment can also make the disease more tolerant to to the environment and can help avoid complications like scarring. Acne treatment includes:
1. Deep skin cleaning with liquid soaps to remove dirt and sufficient sebum from the skin.
2. Decreasing sebum secretion with creams that contain bio-sulfur.
3. Skin peeling with Vitamin-A-acid, benzoylperoxid, and azelaic acid.
4. Local and oral antibiotics (erythromycin, klindamycin, tetracycline)... and local antiseptics.
5. Birth control pills (for women).
6. 13-cys-retinic acid to induce atrophy of the sebaceous glands in the skin.
7. Manuallyexpelling the sebum out of the acne.
8. Photo-therapy.
