After Sexual Contact, how can I Prevent possible contraction Posted: 03-20-06 07:48am
I'm a foreigner living in China, who after
a night of hard drinking recently agreed
to go with a Chinese friend of mine to
hang out with "some girls". Upon arriving
at this girls house, and discovering they
were prostitutes I was immediately put
off, which caused one of them to consider
me a challenge of some sort, and to put it
bluntly we began to have sex with a
condom.
A few minutes into the sex, I for a
variety of reasons started to loose my
erection, which prompted her to take my
condom off. For some reason I will never
understand I penetrated her again for
about one minute before pulling out and
ejaculating.
This is definetely the dumbest thing I've
ever done in my entire life, and I
understand that I put myself at serious
risk. My question is, now what? I
understand Herpes would probably take 2
weeks to develop any symptons, and
Ghonorea is around the same. I have heard
that one time exposure to someone who
possibly has HIV doesn't put me in a very
high risk category, but is that true?
When should I go get tested, six weeks
correct? Are there ANY preventitive
measures I can take for any of the
possible diseases? I've been looking on
the internet, but its very hard to find
statistics on what STDs are most common in
China, and naturally I'm anxious that I've
just seriously screwed up. How prevalent
is Herpes in China? HIV? How greatly
does the length of time having sex effect
the rate of transmission? I definetely
was not inside her for more then a minute
unprotected, but I'm not sure if that
matters at all.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as
I've probably just done the possibly most
high risk thing that a person can do, and
I still can't even believe I did it.

To prevent Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV)
after a possible exposure, you can take
ACIKLOVIR for 3 days. To prevent Gonorrhea
after possible exposing yourself, you can
take AMPICILLIN for 3 days. To prevent an
HIV-infection, you should take
anti-retroviral therapy (zidovudine)...
but only after consultation with a
specialist for infective diseases. The
period during which the body begin
creating antibodies (seroconversion)
against HIV is different in different
people... but 6 weeks is the minimum. I
recommend you take another Hiv-test after
another 6 months in order to verify your
status.
