No Movement, Just Sharp Pains Posted: 03-20-06 13:40pm
I am 18 weeks pregnant and i've had
absolutely no "fluttering" or kicking to
date. To make things worse, i've been
experiencing long, sharp pains accross my
belly and on my sides.
Does this sound as worrisome as it
feels?
This is my first baby and I can't help but
be concerned because it seems everyone has
been feeling movement since like 14
weeks.
Any thoughts out there?

You are not alone. A lot of women have
not felt any movements yet. As far as
the pains it seems like you may be having
ligament pains which a lot of girls have
commented on here, also.
Some women do not feel movements until
20--22 weeks. And some as early as
12--14 weeks. So it is perfectly normal
to not have felt anything yet.
Do not worry. Soon you will be feeling
your baby.

feels good to hear of other women's
situations. I look forward to feeling
that first flutter :)

I didn't feel any movement until I was
18.5 weeks. As far as having pains in my
abdomin I havn't felt that many, I do feel
like I am stretching (which I am) and I
feel just a little pain, if you are really
worried you need to seek out your doc and
ask him so he can let you know if he wants
to see you.

I agree with both of them! If there is no
bleeding or leaking of waters, I wouldn't
be concerned with the pains. They are
more than likely just your ligaments.
About the movements, I think you're at the
stage where you just aren't sure if what
you're feeling is gas or you're honey.
One of these says soon you'll feel a
distinctive kick or movement and it'll be
incredible. You'll be poking your belly
all day long to get him/her to move
again!!
Nobody has an identical pregnancy. Just
because you're friends were luck enough to
feel their baby, doesn't mean that we all
are...Ya know?
Good .Luck!!

Don't worry, I am 20 weeks and 1 day and
my baby has not moved yet I was very
worried too but I had an ultrasound last
week and saw my baby moving around on the
screen and how active she was. So even
though I don't feel her I know she is
moving and growing. I am like you, I
can't wait unitl I feel her.

I am 16 weeks and I have the ligament
pains as soon as I start moving around,
lifting, bending, etc. (i hope thats what
the pain is!)
i am not showing at all and I haven't felt
any movement yet either! I am worried
that I am over doing things and that I
might lose my baby!
Your not the only one thats worried, I
know what you are going through! This is
the worst time because I have to wait a
whole seven weeks before my next check up
and ultra-sound! Only three and a half
weeks now! I hope everything is alright!

Don't wory hun, I didn't feel my little
guy move until I was 20 weeks or so. Now
i'm 34 weeks and he won't stop
moving..Lol. It's an amazing feeling. As
for the pain, like others said it could be
ligaments stretching, but I would check
with your doctor just in case.
