Do I Have Insomnia? Or Something Else? Posted: 03-20-06 21:57pm
I am a full-time rugby athlete in the day,
and in the evening I am a doorman.
I get up at about 9:00am for my rugby day.
I stay awake through to the evening
where I work from 7:00pm - 3:00am. I
then come home, and am still wide awake!
I usually get to sleep about 7:00am, and
get up at 9:00am for the new day.
Now I go through this of having just 2
hours asleep every morning, and about 2
days a week I will have a couple of hours
kip in the day.
So all in all, I have about 18-20 hours
sleep in a week.
However, I do eventually crash out, about
once a month, where I sleep for around 14
hours.
Now many people have said its about
getting into a routine, but I cant. I am
getting up every day, I go to bed at the
right time, and I just cant go to sleep.
Ive tried reading, relaxation technique's,
lavender, etc. Nothing will work!
I do feel tired every day.
1 major problem is that I can actually
sleep in the days. Its just night-time I
cant. If I have a completely free day
(which I never do), I sleep right the way
through, and wake up at night. Something
about night wakes me up! :?
Please someone advise or help, because im
always tired, and it effects my lifestyle!

Hey Posted: 05-22-06 05:26am
I work the night shift 10pm-6am and I too
find myself right away after work and not
getting to sleep until many hours after I
get home......If you think about it does
anyone really go to bed the minute they
get home from work? I've tried and tried
to get to sleep right after work so I have
time to do other stuff but can't seem to
fo it....I know taking pills is really bad
for you to help you sleep, but i've found
gravol works wonders in helping me get to
bed right away. I only take it if I have
something I need to do before work because
otherwise I find myself sleeping until
right beforei have to leave for work.
Another thing I find works is taking a
shower right when I get home from work
(either that or a bath) I know showers are
supposed to wake you up but I find it
relaxes all my muscles and takes away the
restlesness I get from trying to sleep
when i'm not really all that tired. Hope
some of it helps
